Before the year of the semester started, every elementary school initiated Brigada Eskwela. I know most of you are wondering what this means. Even I was curious about this because, during my school days when I was younger, there was nothing like this. So earlier ago, you know I'd love to go outside for my early activity or a walk. I went to an elementary school which is nearer from here.
I saw a tarpaulin being placed at their gate and I decided to learn about this. I went inside and I saw people, I mean the parents were so busy working on something. I went nearer and found a teacher who was in charge there. Then it was perfect because that's what my purpose was when I decided to get inside.
Brigada Eskwela is about Bayanihan or it means about communal unity and cooperation. Of course, this is a free action, everyone is welcome if they will participate or not, and it's a voluntary act. However, most parents if they don't have a job or even if there is one, they will give at least a single vacant day to participate. This is for the benefit of their children who are studying in that specific school. Well, most people who participate in the Brigada Eskwela have their children or siblings who are studying there. Although, some members of the family will just give a certain amount if they really don't have time to participate. That money will be used to buy food that serves as snacks for the people who are working.
From what I learned this kind of activity at school should happen for the whole year but annually only. Then the Department of Education (DepEd) decided to finish in just two weeks. The two weeks will be divided into two, basically, that one (1) week is for the parents or siblings to do the work. It should be finished in just a week so that when the children or the students go to school to study; their environment will be safe and clean. I just learned that the (DepEd) made it like this so the children, unlike our generation, took care of cleaning and clearing the school. So Brigada Eskwela had that purpose too but not only that.
I learned that, the other week or that one week with the two (2) weeks of Brigada Eskwela is for the children to study like a recap or letting them to study more before the class starts. Also, it allows the students to learn more about what to do when the classes start soon. There might be concerns and this is the right time for those doubts and questions, they called Oplan Balik Eskwela.
As you can see now, this school's environment looks so clean and fresh. It feels like a delicious place to study more. Anyway, I'm not a professional teacher so my knowledge only relies on a teacher that I asked and also, it's just how I understand about it. For sure Sir @guruvaj can add more about it since he's a professional teacher.
