It was that time when Mama didn't own any Android phones yet. It's the time that her only happiness is music and action movies. It's her own way to cope with the loneliness, it's her mood booster, and that one thing that never failed to make her laugh or happy.
Mama requested a portable DVD player from my late sister, Ate Riza. It's not the greatest brand, but as long as it can serve its purpose, then Mama will be the happiest. So Mama got it, her wish was granted. She's so grateful for that time. Although she has TV, it's different when you have a portable DVD and can watch your favorite movies. I'm sure most of us here know that feeling, being able to watch it anytime.
Mama can bring her portable player upstairs, where she sells her homecooked meal, and watch or listen to music while doing so. She still had her small eatery back then. And she said she gets bored waiting for the customer to come and buy, so she wants something that she can do while waiting. And this portable player helps her a lot during those boring time (≧▽≦).
Not only can she watch movies here but also can listen to her favorite songs. She owned a lot of CDs back then, from movies to different old songs, tagalog or english. But because they are the cheapest one, they don't really last long. They are disposable, you have no choice but to throw it away once they go bad. Then will just buy a new one again. Everytime she she sells a lot of homecooked meals, she reward herself a new CD, with a songs or movies in it.
What's pretty cool about a portable DVD player is that Mama can use it as long as it is fully charged. I remember Mama even bringing her portable DVD in the comfort room just so she could watch. That's just how addicted she is to watching movies, lol. Then she also had a flash drive before, a gift from big brother, so I sometimes copy a movie from my laptop. That flashdrive is long gone already. Sadly.
She gets to enjoy using this portable DVD player to the fullest. And now, unfortunately, she can't use it anymore. Then she told me that she didn't want to let this go yet. It's a gift from my late sister, so I understand why she can't let this go. So she's just keeping it in her bag. And then I saw it again today.
And you know, before she gave up on this, she brought this player in a repairman and got it repaired a lot of times. Her cat always makes it fall to the ground because of their excitement and clumsiness, that is why. And as you can see, it has a lot of tape on it's body now.
Anyways, Mama stopped using her portable DVD player completely when she got herself an Android phone. You know how convenient a smartphone is. But now she's not only addicted to action movies and music but also to Android games, - you know, Candy Crush and Bubble Shooter. Lol.
So how about you? You're still keeping your portable player, or perhaps you're still using it today? That's cool, if ever. \(^o^)/
