You and I can agree that we are exposed to a multitude of devices that can destroy our eyes. At work, we either use a desktop computer or a laptop and for leisure and entertainment, we use our mobile devices or television. Would you believe that 1/4 of your day is allotted to screen time? On the blog Alarming Average Screen Time Statistics (2022) they mentioned that:

globally, people average 6 hours and 58 minutes of screen time per day

In my experience, I spend more than the said hours as I work 8 hours during the work week and after work, I still have Hive and use my cellphone for resting. If I will be nitty-gritty probably it will be more than 12 hours per day!

I am used to this life since I started working and each time that we will have an Annual Physical Examination in our office during an eyesight check I was always asked if I wear glasses and I said no. I had one before but since I believe that there was nothing wrong, I rarely use it back then.

But these past few months as I am more glued to my devices than before I decided to visit an optometrist. @ayane-chan and @bluepark shared in their previous blog post about how they got their glasses this year and somehow I was encouraged to give it a shot and try to give it a go. I watched vlogs as well to determine which will be the best lenses that I will get.

From what I had researched my lens would be at least the following: Single photochromic -blue light lenses. These words are quite meticulous the same as a Hot Venti Mocha with Three shots of Espresso with Non-fat Milk but believe me, it is what it is.

Since there are optical shops in the market area I asked them how much would it cost for me to get the following in my glasses. They mentioned that the price would range from 2000 PHP to 4,000 PHP depending on the frame that they will use. Every shop that I asked gave the following answer. I am just canvassing since I want to know the price first since I don't have spare money to spend. I also asked if they are accepting credit cards as payment but unfortunately, none of all that I had inquired about said yes.

So one day, when our family went to SM San Pablo we saw Executive Optical and find some frames and a stand saying that they are on sale. I asked if they accept credit cards and mentioned yes. Also, the assistant informed me that if I exceeded 3,000.00 PHP they can offer an installment package for 6 months to 12 months at 0% interest depending on what I wanted.

I was able to acquire one and the price was enough to cover the program that they are offering. There I found out that I already had astigmatism in my left eye which further explains why I am having a hard time seeing things clearly. Since I am used to not wearing glasses, when I tried and compared my vision to as before it would be exaggerated if I say that with glasses I am seeing in more vivid color compared to not using one.

Now you might be wondering if it is time for you to try and get one. I believe that you need to have your eyes checked as well or even if you are not having issues like mine and the others it will be better for you to have extra protection with your eyes.

Remember our vision is one of the things that help us every day - if we do not take care of it this will affect us in the long run as well.

Optical shops usually offer free eye check-ups so grab the opportunity and have yourself tested.

gusto ko nga din mag pa checkup someday. but not todayyyy hahahaha.

great post tp.

hehe pag nakalabas. 😆

Reminder ito sa akin to see an optometrist. My eyes need care. Good that you had yours checked already. Ayaw ko mag suot ng salamin but can't really do anything about it if needed na. !PIZZA

me driving with astigmatism with glasses car lights are blinding.
me driving with astigmatism without glasses everything is blurry, car lights are like stars and im driving via instincts hahaha

!PIZZA

Mapapa ultra instinct ka pag walang salamin. HAHAH maybe you should get a glasses na may anti-glare properties para di ka ganun ka silaw.

I also using my eyeglasses for almost 2 years now. And I totally agree with you taht we need to be more careful about our visions because it may affect us badly if we don't take good care of it at the end of the day.

How was the experience? It has been a month for me wearing glasses religiously so far, nakakalimutan ko parin gamitin and I just recall it everytime na pagod na ang mata ko.

Oo nga eh we need to take care of it. Gasgas na pero prevention is better than cure tologo.

I hope it will not progress further. In my experience, mas lalong lumabo mata ko after years of wearing eyeglass. Road to 600

To the moon ang grado!

It was in my mid-20s when I had my eyeglasses. Kasi pag weekend whole day mag movie marathon. 😁

Grabe naman yung nagsalaminsa movie-marathon like isang buong araw talaga yarnnn?

Since high school I am already nearsighted, but I refused to use eyeglasses because I am not comfortable wearing it,

Right now? We are so inseparable😄.

At first, it is not comfortable especially in the nose part. Can't say that we are already in an inseparable state but I am enjoying it so far!

How does it feel to see the vibrant colors of the world again, @tpkidkai ? 'Cause I feel like running on the sidewalk while jumping for joy when I got my glasses. 😆

Not that type of elation but I feel that my eyesight is way better now compared to not wearing glasses. I can see the gossips right away! Mga ganung level.

Glad you're finally loving your eyes. 😁😁 We're getting older and all those abuses with our eyes take its toll on us. I wish eye condition is reversible. 😓🧐 But no, so we should take care of it more to prevent further damage.

yo! hope you're doing great!
I need to discuss smth with you. :)

The rest wala naman akong glasses di parin me sanay eh.

I visited an ophthalmologist before and she recommended me have an eyeglass. But since I'm quite a hardheaded kid back then, I buy one but did not wear it, lol. Til now I rarely use eyeglasses because I feel like it's not suitable for me.

Same thing with me back then. Ang off lang sa pakiramdam each time na may suot na salamin till now kaso ang problema ngayon pag nalabas ako ng bahay especially kung mataas ang sinag hanap ko din naman at pag mabigatan na work.

Good decision, TP!

I had my first eyeglasses with a prescription when I was in highschool. It's because of my love for reading, kahit madilim and nagttravel gora pa rin. Di ko ginagamit yung eyeglasses ko kasi it's annoying at times hahaha ginagamit ko lang whenever I read books or whenever I use gadgets. Good thing, even if I don't use my eyeglasses that much, after 9 years, konti lang yung grado na nadagdag. With our jobs and side-hustles, it's a challenge on how we'll reduce our screentime para di na madagdagan yung grado in the future 😆

True to that C! With our lifestyle nowadays glasses is a must. I always work at night time with a little to none lights available since nasa kwarto din ang family ko sleeping.

Awts.
