Sirsasana posture with effective warm-up to set it up
Hello dear friends of Full Deportes, I hope you are having a great day! Today I come to bring you a short but quite effective practice to achieve the headstand pose or Sirsasana.
Although it is necessary to warm up the whole body to perform it, the most important thing is to warm up the shoulders and let them know that in part they will be supporting our body, this is the same as becoming aware of the mobility of our shoulders and activate them as support.
The weight of this posture is mainly on the forearms. It is important to know this, because although the head is resting on the floor, it only acts as a third support, while the two strongest supports are in the forearms, activated by the shoulders. For this reason the intention is always to push the floor and separate the scapulae.
Another very important fact is to know that the part of the head that rests and supports, is the top, it is the most flattened part of the skull, it is not the forehead or further back. You can know which is the top by placing your thumb between your eyebrows and taking the middle finger backwards, where it rests, that is the top of your head.
The best warm-up for this posture is the dolphins, as this allows us to activate the abdomen, whose muscles we will need for Sirsasana and of course generates great flexibility in the shoulders as it starts to let the body know where we will be going next. This is fundamental for the mind as well, as it turns out to be the biggest challenge in the inverted postures.
I hope you liked the post and remember that if you are beginners it is better to have a teacher taking care of the climb at least the first attempts, so that he/she can point out the points to improve and take care of.
It is also advisable that the first practices at home are done in front of a wall, with the intention of removing it as soon as possible from the practice, but yes it is very useful when developing confidence in the arming.
