Mi equipo de béisbol por todo el tiempo siempre fue Los Leones, pero el año pasado (temporada 2023-2024), fue tan evidente la supremacía y que ¡TODO LES SALIÓ TAN BIEN! Que me cambié para los Tiburones de la Guaira. Ahora, todo lo que hago es apoyar al equipo en las buenísimas y no tan buenas 😍.

My baseball team for all the time has always been Los Leones, but last year (2023-2024 season), it was so evident the supremacy and that EVERYTHING WENT SO WELL FOR THEM! That I switched to the Tiburones de la Guaira. Now, all I do is support the team in the good and not so good 😍.

Hace días, siguiendo el calendario de la Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional (LVBP) al equipo Tiburones de la Guaira, les tocaba visitar a Caribes de Anzoátegui. En esa oportunidad iban con números de:
Caribes: 18 ganados y 25 perdidos; ocupando el último lugar, a 6.5 juegos del primer lugar.
Para clasificar a la siguiente fase, cada equipo debe contar con más de 28 juegos ganados. Contando que ya estamos en las últimas semanas del campeonato, cada juego es decisivo, por lo que yo decidí ir a apoyar al equipo, ya que (a mi juicio) no terminamos de consolidar ese poderío que se vio la temporada pasada y que los fanáticos guairistas😎 quedamos con ganas
de ver nuevamente.
A few days ago, following the calendar of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), the team Tiburones de la Guaira had to visit Caribes de Anzoátegui. On that occasion they had a record of:
Tiburones: 21 wins and 22 losses. They were 4 places behind first place. Caribes: 18 won and 25 lost; occupying the last place, 6.5 games behind first place.
To qualify to the next phase, each team must have more than 28 games won. Considering that we are already in the last weeks of the championship, every game is decisive, so I decided to go to support the team, since (in my opinion) we did not finish consolidating that power that was seen last season and that the guairistas😎 fans are waiting to see again.
El encuentro estuvo pautado para las 7:00 p. m. y aunque estuvieron jugando ambos equipos, Caribes tenía a su favor que viene de una semana practicando y jugando en casa, mientras que Tiburones, tuvo que viajar para el encuentro. Esto creo que sigue siendo un punto en contra porque son horas de carretera, mal descanso y condiciones que son desfavorable para cualquier deportista.
The game was scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and although both teams were playing, Caribes had in their favor that they were coming from a week practicing and playing at home, while Tiburones had to travel for the game. I think this is still a point against them because it is hours on the road, bad rest and conditions that are unfavorable for any athlete.
El encuentro se llevó a cabo en el estadio Alfonso "Chico" Carrasquel, en la ciudad de Puerto la Cruz- Anzoátegui. De las instalaciones no puedo aportar mucho; las condiciones son precarias, en comparación con otros estadios que he venido visitando. Sin embargo, siendo solo usado para estos eventos, el mantenimiento costoso que significa y las condiciones climáticas de extremos sol, pienso que aún lo mantienen.
Lo que sí pude notar fue el trabajo de la grama sintética que fue anunciada esta temporada, en sustitución de la anterior que ya había cumplido su tiempo de vida. Los jugadores hicieron pruebas de "correr la bola" y se veían satisfechos.
The meeting was held at the Alfonso “Chico” Carrasquel stadium in the city of Puerto la Cruz, Anzoátegui. I cannot contribute much about the facilities; the conditions are precarious compared to other stadiums I have visited. However, being only used for these events, the costly maintenance and the weather conditions of extreme sun, I think they still maintain it.
What I did notice was the work on the synthetic turf that was announced this season, replacing the previous one that had already served its time. The players tried out “running the ball” and seemed satisfied.
Una de las cosas que me gusta de los juegos profesionales es la puntualidad. Y puede sonar a ¿qué tiene que ver esto? Muchísimo, ya que de la puntualidad depende el calentamiento de los jugadores y todo lo que implica su preparación. Los deportes de ligas menores, inician sus eventos hasta con 3 horas de demora, por lo que no se crea la disciplina correspondiente en el equipo. Punto para la liga 💯.
One of the things I like about professional games is the timeliness. And it may sound like what does this have to do with it? Very much so, because punctuality is the key to the players' warm-up and everything that goes into their preparation. Little league sports, start their events with up to 3 hours of participation, so the corresponding discipline is not created in the team. Point for the league 💯.
El pitcher abridor por los escualos fue Joen Van Meter del cual no tengo muchas referencias, porque el picheo es una de las debilidades que han tenido al no mantener el ritmo y los bateadores a raya. Prueba de ello, es que en varias oportunidades hubo bateos que llegaron lejos, pero gracias a Dios, fueron out.
En el propio primer inning llegó la alegría para la fanaticada con un jonrón de Luis Matos, que "asomaba" la fiesta que prenderían en el estadio, porque ya venían de dos juegos ganados con los cambios que venían haciendo, y la incorporación de otros jugadores al equipo abridor.
En mi caso, quería ver a Gabriel Arias haciendo un buen trabajo. Desde que salió de la banca, sus números han sido muy buenos, pero por lo que pude observar, es muy propenso al ponche porque todo lo quiere batear.
The starting pitcher for the scualos was Joen Van Meter of whom I do not have many references, because the pitching is one of the weaknesses they have had by not keeping the rhythm and the batters at bay. Proof of this is that on several occasions there were hits that went far, but thank God, they were out.
In the very first inning the fans were happy with a home run by Luis Matos, which “peeked” the party that would be lit in the stadium, because they had already won two games with the changes they had been making, and the incorporation of other players to the starting lineup.
In my case, I wanted to see Gabriel Arias doing a good job. Since he came off the bench, his numbers have been very good, but from what I could observe, he is very prone to strikeouts because he wants to hit everything.
Por otro lado, jugadores como Wilson, Yangervis o Pedro, lo venían haciendo muy bien pero como equipo no los veo. Muchos movimientos titubeantes, descontrol en el momento de "cazar" un picheo, corridas flojas que no aprovechan el error del otro equipo, y no sé, no es el tiburones del que me enamoré😋.
On the other hand, players like Wilson, Yangervis or Pedro have been doing very well but as a team I don't see them. Many hesitant movements, lack of control at the moment of “hunting” a pitching, weak runs that do not take advantage of the other team's mistake, and I don't know, it's not the Sharks I fell in love with😋.
Pero como toda relación tiene sus altas y bajas, me quedo con lo mejor del equipo; un Alcides apoyando desde la banca, un "Ozzie" Guillen haciendo los cambios necesarios para mantenerse en la lucha y un picheo que está allí intentándolo también, para mantener a los otros equipos a la raya en caso de un empate técnico.
El equipo es fuerte y tiene todavía esperanzas. No obstante, será después, porque esa noche perdimos 5 a 3 😔.
But as every relationship has its ups and downs, I am left with the best of the team; an Alcides supporting from the bench, an “Ozzie” Guillen making the necessary changes to stay in the fight and a pitching that is there trying too, to keep the other teams at bay in case of a technical tie.
The team is strong and still has hope. However, it will be later, because we lost 5 to 3 that night 😔.

La primera, con el pitcher Arnaldo Hernández quien tiene una carrera exitosa y en ascenso; fue protagonista en la campaña pasada y esta también ha tenido actuaciones importantes. Fue lindo verlo con su mamá compartiendo, una señora super amable 😍. Éxitos y bendiciones para él, siempre de la mano de Dios y la Virgen del Coromoto 🌷.

The first one, with pitcher Arnaldo Hernandez who has a successful and rising career; he was a protagonist last season and this one has also had important performances.
