En el día de hoy comenzará la disputa de una nueva fecha de las eliminatorias sudamericanas de fútbol luego de un largo receso motivado por la Copa América disputada recientemente en los Estados Unidos.
Simultáneamente comenzará a disputarse el torneo de la NFL, conocido como football americano y que está ganando adeptos en muchos rincones del mundo, nunca comparable con "nuestro" fútbol, pero los norteamericanos no pierden las esperanzas. Será difícil torcer las apetencias del mundo, pero cosas más increíbles hemos visto.
Hoy se disputarán en el Cono Sur del continente americano dos encuentros, a las 17 h s. de mi país tendremos un interesante enfrentamiento entre Bolivia y Venezuela, la Vinotinto viene desplegando un buen juego y tiene como meta lograr clasificar a Venezuela al próximo mundial, algo que jamás han logrado hasta el presente. Las posibilidades son inmejorables para avanzar un paso más en dirección a ese objetivo, Bolivia no está jugando bien y los estadios en la altura con más de 3500 metros sobre el nivel del mar ha dejado de ser un reducto inexpugnable.
A las 21 hs. de mi país, nuestro seleccionado local tendrá un enfrentamiento complicado frente a Chile, si bien los trasandinos no están atravesando su mejor momento, se han tomado los partidos contra nuestra selección como algo especial y generalmente se las arreglan para complicarnos la vida. Ponen mucha pasión, empeño y en ocasiones juego fuerte y provocativo, creo que Argentina, pese a no contar con sus dos máximas estrellas, Messi por lesión y Di María por haberse retirado de la selección nacional, tiene un equipo afianzado y con mentalidad ganadora que probablemente incline la balanza, de ganar Argentina tendrá prácticamente asegurada su participación en el mundial 2026.
Mañana se completará la fecha con tres encuentros, Uruguay frente a Paraguay, Perú versus Colombia y Brasil enfrentando a Ecuador, en los tres enfrentamientos hay favoritos, como casi siempre ocurre, sin embargo, el fútbol suele dar sorpresas inesperadas, la dinámica de lo impensado decía un conocido comentarista de mi país. Todos los partidos hay que disputarlos y nadie tiene el resultado asegurado.
En la parte norte del continente americano comienza el otro fútbol, la NFL y hoy, en un horario apenas separado del inicio del encuentro de Argentina, los campeones del año anterior, los Kansas City Chiefs tendrán su kickoff frente a los Baltimore Ravens. Esta temporada y como parte de su proyecto de expansión, por primera vez en la historia del deporte se jugará un encuentro en Brasil, efectivamente el viernes 6/9 los Philadelphia Eagles enfrentarán a los Green Bay Packers en la ciudad de San Pablo. El resto de la fecha se completará entre el próximo domingo y el lunes siguiente, como es habitual en la liga.
El football americano es tan distinto al fútbol que hasta cuando se presenta el fixture, el equipo visitante va dispuesto en el primer lugar y el local detrás, exactamente al revés de cómo estamos acostumbrados a verlo en nuestros torneos. Pero es un deporte apasionante y pese a no ser parte de nuestra idiosincrasia, atrapa y cada vez más al público de Sudamérica.
Por supuesto voy a ver el partido del vigente campeón mundial y bicampeón Americano, merecen todo mi respeto y admiración además de representar tan bien a mi nación, pero en algún momento el dedo seguramente se escapará para ver de reojo que pasa con los Chiefs, es más fuerte que yo.
Between soccer and (American) football

At 9 p.m. in my country, our local team will have a difficult match against Chile. Although the Argentines are not going through their best moment, they have taken the matches against our team as something special and generally manage to make our matches difficult. But it is an exciting sport and despite not being part of our idiosyncrasy, it captivates and increasingly so the public of South America.
Of course, I am going to watch the match between the current world champion and two-time American champion, they deserve all my respect and admiration in addition to representing my nation so well, but at some point, the finger will surely slip out to see out of the corner of my eye what happens with the Chiefs, they are stronger than me.
