Hive Power-up Day - December 1st

in #hive-18930616 days ago

I missed the last couple of power-up days because things have been pretty hectic and I've been losing track of some of the days here and there, but it's all good. We're here now, and I can't believe it's already the final month of the year.

This means that I've been writing daily here on Hive for 23 months straight. I think as we get into January I'm going to tone it down, because trying to juggle it, as well as everything else has been pretty tough.

Daily Writing

The benefits far exceed the cons as far as writing daily goes. I've written a hell of a lot of fiction in the last 2 years, which may not have been written if I hadn't give myself this little challenge.

Now though, I'd like to star going through it all to gather up all of my worldbuilding posts, to compile them into one concise document that can act as a world bible of sorts. Somewhere I can pull information and potential inspiration from.

In addition, I'd like to gather all of my short stories into one solid document of Anthology work, and I'd like to take all of my longer-form stories and add them into their own documents completely.

Some things, I've definitely forgotten, so it would be nice to go back to re-visit and revise some of that old work. With each thing I've written, I've gained plenty of experience, so going back with fresh eyes would be great, especially as I start the editing process on some things that could do with a bit of touching up.

I have a few ideas floating around for my work, but it involves sifting through everything I have so far and weeding out the good from the bad.

On With The Power-up

Starting off today, I had 18,177HP

It's not a bad number, and I think roughly half of it has been earned through both creation and curation, while the other half has been purchased.

I decided to power up 123, so I could get myself a nice round number.

Compared to what I have currently sitting liquid, I could have done more so I could hit my goal for the year of 20k, but I'm holding off for the moment and keeping some on stand-by which I can sell.

There we have it, I'm currently standing at 18,300HP which means I'm only 1,700 away from hitting my early goal.

As mentioned, I don't want to stake the full 1,700 yet, as my intention recently has been to save all of my HBD earnings, convert them into Hive and wait for the price to move a bit higher.

I like where we're at currently, hovering around the .29 mark, but I'd like to see it reach about .50 - .60 before I start to sell of chunks of it.

I've learned a few lessons over the last few years, and the biggest one is, don't sit on everything and get left holding the bag. Sell it in chunks when you feel comfortable, especially as it's on the rise and then with that profit, re-invest when the whole market comes down again.

Good stuff. You're in a strong position and those daily posts must add up nicely. Keep it up and push for a good end of year result!

Thanks man, I'm happy with how it has gone and it's a shock to see my holdings today compared to 3 years ago when I first joined. Amazing stuff all-round.

Follow Eceny's curation trail to earn better APR on your own HP. : )

Nicely done ! Your account is significantly bigger than mine (as in... almost double the HP). If that's what posting every day does for you, I need to do that 😁

Gathering up all your posts to work over them definitely sounds like a good idea. I've been doing it with an Excel spreadsheet, and it's a complete faff. I'm starting to think I need to learn how to code just so I can write a Hive App that allows users to index all their posts and organise them by community and tag, but also by assigning them to themes that are outside the realm of tags (e.g. for me, I'd like to organise posts by which of the various settings they are from, and by key characters). Or maybe I'll have to just earn enough HBD to pay someone to write the app for me....

I've been thinking something like that would honestly be amazing and such a useful app to add to the roster. We could promote it outside of Hive to writers who want to kind of utilise it to save, store, and organise their work.

To be honest, if that was a Proposal, I'd vote for it, and I'm sure many other people would, if a proposal didn't go through I'd donate toward a whip round to pay someone to do it, because it would be amazing.

Hmmm, I might have to work out a detailed specification and see if anyone who actually can code would be interested in taking it up (and how much they'd charge - they should definitely get paid for their time !)

Powering up at the beginning of the month really boosts not only the account, but also the commitment to the ecosystem.

Yeah it does
