I remember the first time I heard about Hive,to be honest, I was not really interested. I was already told by some friends of mine that I should be a blogger because I was a good writer. Then I wrote on my whatever I face everyday I go out on the streets of Lagos. It was funny, annoying, and so much more.
My fear in joining hive was that I would lose interest in writing, and sharing what I was used to, and also the fact that I felt I wouldn't be myself on the platform. On the contrary, I have learnt a great deal since joining this community, and it encourages one to be original. This beats my initial expectations.
Before I go further, I would love to thank @blezyn for inviting me to join this contest and I would also like to invite @khingstan, @quduus1 and @treasuree to join in this challenge.
I got to know about this wonderful platform from @blezyn. She's my best friend and I'm so happy I got introduced. She told me it'll be a great platform to express my writing skills, meet people and experience new things. I got convinced and decided to join right away.
Unfortunately, the phone I used then wasn't of a large capacity to have the applications needed for me to join actively installed. So I had to chill till I had a better phone. I got a new phone for my birthday as a gift and I was so excited. I was finally able to install the applications and join hive.
I made my first post on the 19th of October, 2021. I couldn't wait to post. I had met up with @blezyn so she could put me through the whole process, which she did happily. I remember my anxiety, my tension, and how my heart beat so fast.
I didn't know what to expect, but the warm reception I received was beyond my imagination. @nonsowrite is like an elder brother to me, he and @blezyn would always tell me about the importance of engaging, of commenting, and relating to people in the community.
My first friend here was @tykee. He was the first person that really welcomed me. Went to the extra mile of chatting me up via discord. I really appreciated the gesture.
@blezyn taught me the process, the rules and regulations, and invited me for contests. She even gave me a power hive so I could engage and comment. She's been my support system since my beginning.
Sometimes, my post gets lots of comments, other times I would barely get a like. I was discouraged but then I had my best friend to encourage me. She made me continue and to never think of giving up.
I found it great to discover that while there will obviously be fear at trying something new, there are people around, if only you are willing to accept their help, they would definitely give a helping hand.
I'm six month now on hive and the growth process is perfect for me. The originality never left, the community still remains welcoming and I'm still meeting new people. Cheers to the beginning.
Thank you for reading 🥰
