tomster-17 - Introduction Post

in #hive-189497last year

Hello and howdy folks!
New to Hive but I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far, everyone has been very kind and recommended an introduction post and given me some tips on how to do this. Here we go:

My name is Barry Allen and I-no wait hold on that's something else.
My name is Tom and I have always loved the number 17.
I was raised by my paternal grandparents, my mom and dad are still alive and I have a relationship with my dad.
I don't mind being the weird friend, as you can see from the photo below where I attended a masked ball at my wifes college:

That is genuine leather, loving crafted by a local leatherworker (I think they are on the Book of Faces as Darkside Leathercraft)

Interests and DND

I have always loved fantasy books, writings and movies, which includes a massive love of D&D and Warhammer 40k. I enjoy writing and blogging, I have a blog where I write about my Christian beliefs, and I have another blog where i am slowly putting our local D&D campaign to words.

I have completed Curse of Strahd, started Dungeon of the Mad Mage but that group has faded, I have DM'd a campaign to completion for my brother and one sister, I am currently DMing a campaign for seven players (if I wasn't losing my hair before...) and I have run a number of one shots, including one for a group of neurodivergent kiddos.

When we were all trapped in our homes, I began working on a project to make the simplest to get-learn-and-understand RPG that has only now really started to come close to a final form. I was hoping to have it ready for external playtests by June, but here we are.

I was recommended to check out Hive by @zakludick and I'm looking forward to getting to know the lovely people here, contributing and just having a jolly time with all of you.

You're chained to the back of an angry owlbear?!?! That can't be good for your general health!

Welcome to Hive! I really hope you'll love it here.
I love 40K too although I don't have an army at the moment, but if I did it would be Orks. I played maybe 30 years ago... but with Zak around the pull to jump back in has gotten a lot stronger.

If you have any Hive questions, I've been around for a while so I'd be happy to help.

Welcome to Hive @tomster-17 I too love 17 well I would as it was my birthday earlier in the week on the 17th!

Great to see you joining in the Hive madness, just shout if you need any help, but follow in the footsteps of @zakludick and you will be fine!

Great introduction Tom.

Link up with @alonicus. He also does a lot of DND and post related to that and putting them to words as you put it.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work and creative stuff!

@new.things, @aussieninja - we have another Warhammer guy here! Cheers! 😁😁😁

Welcome to the Hive community @tomster-17!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Peaklock, and Hivesigner,
  3. The master password and the owner key are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your password or keys; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. DO NOT OPEN any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Hiveans available who can help you; you can click to go to The Terminal in Discord here:

Have fun and happy Hiving!

First off… your personality is off the charts! So adorable! I loved what I read so much! Hahaha. And since you’re a reader/writer…. I want to introduce you to dreemport.com

It's a pay-it-forward curation platform that helps writers to get guaranteed eyes on their blog each day that they share their work. It's more than just a curation platform though, it's a community of supportive individuals across the web3 and web2 spectrum who are keen to share their own writing and support that of others.

If you get the opportunity to register, then check out the videos in the Getting Started menu. Just note that where @dreemsteem mentions Daily tasks menu, this has been reworded to Earn Dreem on the website.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have. If short stories or creative non-fiction is also your thing, either as a reader or writer, then I can recommend The Ink Well as a wonderful community and home for both of these. There are weekly and monthly prompts and off-prompt pieces are also welcome. If you enjoy serial fiction, then Scholar & Scribe would be a good go-to. Please remember always to read community guidelines for any community that you choose to join and write in on Hive to ensure that you are writing within their parameters. Once again, welcome!

Thank you for the kind words and the direction! I will check those out :)
