The Kratos, known officially as the Kratos Heavy Assault Tank, was a main battle tank used by the Space Marine Legions during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. It is rarely seen in the 41st Millennium, save as a relic vehicle.

THE HISTORY and Lore:

The Kratos Heavy Assault Tank is rooted in an ancient Terran design deployed during the Unification of Old Earth. After the Emperor ratified the Treaty of Mars with the Tech-priests from the ancient Mechanicum, it underwent a redesign, becoming the vanguard of the Great Crusade. Its primary role was to breach enemy lines and act as a formidable force on the battlefield. This formidable main battle tank boasted near imperviousness to enemy attacks, and its relentless advancement served as the unyielding core in any assault carried out by the Legiones Astartes. This advance was supported by a relentless barrage of overwhelming firepower.

Initially employed as a specialized tank to support infantry units, the Kratos utilized its potent Kratos Battle Cannon to swiftly carve a path through hordes of adversaries, paving the way for Astartes or mortal infantry support. However, as the Great Crusade drew to a close, the Kratos was deemed outdated and phased out of active service. The Legiones Astartes began favoring speedier and more versatile armored vehicles, like the widely used Predator tank.

Nevertheless, some Kratos tanks remained in the reserve armaments of the Legions despite being replaced. Notably, during the Signus Campaign in the early stages of the Horus Heresy, the Blood Angels Legion extensively deployed the Kratos during the Battle of Signus Prime.

In terms of hitting power, the Kratos sits between the Sicaran and Fellblade. The Kratos can be armed with the Kratos battle cannon which can be loaded with high-explosive shells to kill large numbers of enemy troops, armour-piercing shells to take out heavily-armoured threats or flashburn shells against massive enemy tanks.

War Gear and loadout:

The Kratos can also be equipped with a Volkite Cardanelle, or a Melta Blast-Gun. Additional weaponry includes; a co-axial Autocannon, a pair of hull-mounted anti-infantry weapons with a choice of 2 Autocannons, Heavy Bolters, Lascannons, or Volkite Calivers -- and a separate pair of sponson weapons - 2 Heavy Bolters, Heavy Flamers, Lascannons, or Volkite Culverins.

The Kratos Heavy Assault Tank can be upgraded to carry a pintle-mounted weapon -- a Havoc Missile Launcher, Heavy Bolter, Heavy Flamer, Multi-melta, or a Combi-weapon with five configurations (Combi-bolter, Combi-flamer, Combi-melta, Combi-plasma, or Combi-volkite) -- as well as a searchlight, a Dozer Blade, and a Hunter-Killer Missile.
