Greetings, awesome friends, hive community, and fellow Wargamers!⚔️🎲
A short intro; as per my post last year i competed in a hobby league at our local hobby store sword and board(https://ecency.com/hive-189497/@xenowolfza/the-wolf-howl-vs-the) and I build a 2000 list of Space Wolves ! -(read previous post link above for more on that.)
OK! let get started.
What is Slow Grow? 🤓
Slow Grow is a hobby league for Warhammer 40k that our local hobby store hosts each year. It allows both seasoned players to enhance and create new armies and provides a gradual introduction for newcomers, allowing them to slowly build up their forces, engage in painting, and learn the rules. The league is designed to be enjoyable and not overly competitive, emphasizing learning and fostering a community of wargamers.
Here are the rules for this league:
Army Selection/Size/Composition:
Follow your chosen faction's Codex/Index Cards for building your army. For your games, adhere to the Matched Play section of the rule book.
Feb & March: 500 points
April: 250 points
May: 250 points
June: 500 points
July: 250 points
August: 250 points
Two Special Rules for this league:
Each month, you are allowed to remove ONE unit from your army from the previous month, freeing up the points to be spent on new units for your army alongside the regular monthly point increase.
Additionally, you can promote an EXISTING HQ in your army in the previous month to be your Warlord and demote the existing Warlord to be a normal HQ (or use the swap in (1) to just replace him/her with another unit). You can change/fix the warlord traits/artifacts for HQs as needed.
These rules are meant to allow for flexibility and correction of mistakes, especially for beginners who might accidentally include units that don't work well together. It also provides the option to free up points for more expensive units that wouldn't fit in a 250-point increase, all while maintaining the narrative aspect of a consistently growing army. If you have any questions, please ask.
Scoring
Playing:
3 points for playing your assigned game. We will pair you up with an opponent at the start of each month.
Gain an extra point for playing another game in the same month, up to a total of 2 additional points. For example, play 3 games and get 5 points in total.
*Note: Models do not have to be fully painted before you play your game.
Painting:
At the end of every month, bring your painted models for the month to the store. We will score your painting based on the following:
Basic: 3 colors - 3 Points
Apprentice: Washes, dry brushing - 1 Point
Paint Smith: Edge highlighting, layering - 1 Point
Paint Guru: Wet blending - 1 Point
Paint Master: Decals, weathering, chipping - 1 Point
Paint Legend: Non-Metallic Metal, Object lighting - 1 Point
Not everyone is a master class painter, so please do not feel discouraged. The idea of this league is not to have works of art at the end of every month but to have a fully painted and playable army by the league's end, all while having fun. Give it your best shot, and feel free to ask for help in the group. We have some amazing painters always willing to give advice.
Basing:
At the end of every month, bring your painted models for the month to the store. We will score your basing based on the following:
Basic: Sand, flock - 3 Points
Apprentice: Using cork, tufts - 1 Point
Base Smith: Levels, ruins, rubble, water effects - 1 Point
Prizes:
All entry fees will go 100% towards prizes in the form of Sword and Board store vouchers. Prize breakdown will be announced once we have an idea of the number of entries into the league.
....that summarizes the rules 😎🎲📘😄
The 10 000?
who are the 10 000? Here are a short summary with the help form: ( Lexicanum : Community Created Warhammer 40 000 Encyclopediawh40k.lexicanum.com)
The Adeptus Custodes, renowned by various titles such as the Brotherhood of Demigods, the Golden Legion, the Custodian Guard, the Guardians, the Emperor’s Saints, the Watchers of The Throne, the Thousand Companions, and the Ten Thousand, but commonly known as Custodians, serve as the guardians of the Imperial Palace and the Golden Throne.
The Custodes, alongside the Sisters of Silence, embody the Talons of the Emperor, serving as the right hand of the Emperor.
Their authority is so profound that even Space Marines and Inquisitors must kneel before them. Custodians stand as the mightiest warriors of humanity, comparable to what transhuman warriors are to common Guardsmen. Their elevated status manifests in raw strength and willpower that are deemed insurmountable, analogous to the Space Marines in relation to ordinary Guardsmen. 👾
