Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
A New Season of Reviews - A Challenge accepted!
The nefarious trio of World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons are set to get their new Codexes next. Actually, the great FOUR are each getting their favourite Legion's new Codexes but Emperor's Children did not have an actual Index before.
Anyway. I was speaking to my friend @nicolaasmuller about how my Review posts might not make a lot of money for me, but that cumulatively and on average some of them do good and overall there is an average that at least means that there is good movement of income into the Hobby Fund and that it would grow from there.
We were throwing around some numbers and looking at the average of my last 10 Review Posts, 20 Review posts and 30 Review Posts and we could come up with a range of how much I should theoretically be making across a large sample size of completing the remainder of the reviews for the nefarious trio mentioned above.
So Nicolaas says to me something along the lines of: That would be pretty cool if you could do it in like, a month. Maybe do like 2 a day.
So I explained it would be a little bit more than that but sure... it would be cool... is that a challenge? And yeah... here I am... Challenge accepted. 😎
It is now Day 4 of the Challenge. I am a little behind but I needed to prepare. This is the 4th post of that Challenge!
Totals so far: 3/70 Datasheets done, 1/3 Army Rules done, 0/6 Detachment Rules done. Total 4/79.
Time elapsed: 13.33%
Progress completed: 5.06%
Hobby Fund
Due to medical bills and personal commitment of cash to hobby, my hobby fund has to pay me back. I have three lots bought end of last year/start of this year.
This post and its earnings shall assist in paying all that off.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total remaining is $468!
Every bit counts!
Who are the World Eaters?
The World Eaters Legion are one of the original Chaos Space Marines Legions that was created by the Emperor of Mankind. During the Horus Heresy, they ended up siding with the Arch-Traitor Horus and became Chaos Space Marines.
In particular, due to their beliefs and attitude, they became servants of the Blood God Khorne. The God of violence, slaughter, murder and hatred. This is something that suited them well.
The Primarch of the World Eaters had grown up on a world as a slave, fighting in gladiator arenas. The Butcher's nails were augmentations driven directly into his brain through his skull that keep him in a constant state of rage and bloodlust.
These nails could not be removed and made him into a bit of a madman. During the Horus Heresy he ascended to Daemonhood and became an immortal Warp being. This means that he can be banished from reality but that he would be reformed in the warp and would be able to return once more.
"Blood for the Blood God. Skulls for the Skull Throne."
Two of their strongest themes is blood and skulls.
This army plays with a 95% focus on melee. They are highly mobile and able to cross the battlefield easily.
Army Rule - Blessings of Khorne
10th Edition Index
At the Start of the Battle Round (So, regardless if you have first turn or not), you can make a Blessings of Khorne Roll.
Roll 8x D6 Dice. (8 is the sacred number of Khorne)
You can use the dice rolled this way to activate up to two Blessings of Khorne from the list below. You can also only activate each bonus once. (No double stacking 1 Blessing)
Each Blessing specifies what results on the dice they need to be activated. And dice not used this way are discarded and new dice are rolled in the next Battle Round.
Once activated, each Blessing of Khorne applies to ALL units from your army with this ability and lasts until the end of the Battle Round.
Blessings of Khorne list
Rage-fuelled Invigoration
- Requires any Double
Add 2" to the Movement of models in this unit.
Wrathful Devotion
- Requires any Double
Models in this unit have Feel No Pain 6+. If the unit already has Feel No Pain, increase their FNP rolls by 1. (So a 6+ will become a 5+, etc)
Martial Excellence
- Requires double 3+ (so any 3 dice that are 3 or more)
Melee weapons equipped by these models have Sustained Hits 1 (so 6's to Hit cause additional hits)
Total Carnage
- Requires Double 4+ or Any Triple
Give units a Fights on Death 4+
Warp Blades
- Requires Double 5+ or any Triple
Melee weapons equipped by models in this unit have Lethal Hits (Meaning 6's to Hit cause automatic Wounds.)
Unbridled Bloodlust
- Requires Double 6 or Trible 4+
Units can Advance and Charge in the same turn.
Thoughts
Well, this is instantly and insanely powerful in my books.
You can pair them up in any combination, like +2 Movement AND Advance and Charge would mean that with the correct roll in turn 1 will see your army running across the whole table to engage with the enemies.
Units like Eightbound, Juggernaughts and Angron can complete Turn 1 charges with this.
Meanwhile, being able to gain Sustained hits mean that you can be anti-horde, adding Lethal hits makes you anti-elite/monstrous/vehicles.
Of course you can just add them together. If you had 30 attacks with Lethals and Sustained hits and average of 5 attacks will inflict auto wounds plus an additional 5 attacks to be rolled.
Fights on Death is situational. A commander with experience will be able to see the enemy warriors about to take the fight to the World Eaters and beat them to a charge. Fights on Death means you can hit back at least before the model goes away.
You could possibly combine this with Wrathful Devotion to get a Feel No Pain 6+ which will go a long way to keep them alive.
It is very strong. I would be a fan if it was my army... but its Chaos and that's Heresy!
How to deal with it? Well give the Blood God THEIR blood and not yours! You need to pull his teeth and look carefully what the World Eater is trying to accomplish. Is he just charging in? Is he trying to confuse you while he goes for the objective? Look for priority targets and be careful of their damage dealing capabilities. They are very powerful.
