Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!
This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.
After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total needed is $575 (R10,000 ZAR).

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
569 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #200, I am 369 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)

Astra Militarum, Commissar
10th Edition Index
Commissars are scary and fanatical. Usually raised and trained from orphans of war by the Schola Progenium, the same organisation that trains the Tempestus Scions, Storm Troopers, Kasrkin and the like.
The Schola chooses particularly faithful and disciplined aspirants to become Commissars. Political Officers, they check that the Infantry do not run away from the battlefield. While not in combat, the Commissars serve to check on the loyalty and morale of troops and they curb any sort of rumour or talk that could lead to heresy, mass hysteria or mutiny.
It costs a mere 30pts to add a Commissar to your army and you can attach them to most infantry units. They cost $37 to buy.

You have a choice of either Bolt Pistol or Plasma Pistol… I mean… why not Plasma?
Ranged Weapons
Bolt Pistol
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 3+, S4, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (It can be fired while in combat with the enemy)
Plasma Pistol – Standard Firing mode
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 3+, S7, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (Can be fired while in Engagement Range of enemies)
Plasma Pistol – Supercharge firing mode
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 3+, S8, AP-3 and 2 Damage each.

Melee Weapons
The Commissar has the option between Chainsword and Power Weapon... again... why bother with the Chainsword when the Power Weapon is clearly the better option?

4 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Power Weapon
3 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S4, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.
Abilities
Orders
The Commissar is an Officer but can only issue 1 order and only the "Duty and Honour!" or "Fix Bayonets!" orders.
Summary Execution
Once per Battle Round while within 12" of this Commissar, if an Infantry unit of Astra Militarum is Battle Shocked, the Commissar can destroy one model in that unit and that unit is no longer Battle Shocked. (He shoots them!)
Political Overwatch
While the Commissar is in a unit with another officer the unit can re-roll Battle Shock tests.
Thoughts
Great for playing the objectives game. Not losing objective control by killing off a model is very handy. Additionally a buff to his own unit's leadership whether he is with another officer or not is also a great plus.
For 30pts he does a lot. He adds a little bit in the melee and ranged danger for the unit but his main value comes from the morale buffs.
That makes 31 Astra Militarum Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 31.83% Completed. The total Completed is 20.59% Complete! Can I review them all?!
