Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!
This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.
After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total remaining is $530 (R10,000 ZAR).

Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!

Astra Militarum, 'Iron Hand' Straken
10th Edition Index
Colonel Iron Hand Straken is a legendary Catachan hero. Half his body was replaced by bionics due to grievous wounds. He leads from the front and he gives units he joins decent buffs.
On top of that, he has a statline that rivals a mid-tier Space Marine character. He can hold his own with a punch and a knife!
It costs 55pts to field him. He is not on the warhammer.com, I wonder if that means he is out... or if he is getting a new model... His model was already pretty cool...
Well, let's check his stats.

Save 3+/4++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)

Weapons
Straken has a Plasma Pistol, an auto shotgun and uses his Bionic Arm and Devil's Claw in Melee
Ranged Weapons
Auto Shotgun
12" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S4, AP0 and 2 Damage each.
Assault (This weapon can be fired after a unit Advances)
Plasma Pistol - Standard firing option
12" Range, 1 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S7, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (This weapon can be fired in melee)
Plasma Pistol - Overcharged firing option
12" Range, 1 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S8, AP-3 and 2 Damage each.
Pistol (This weapon can be fired in melee)
Hazardous (Can explode and deal 3 Mortal Wounds to the wielder)
Melee Weapons
Bionic Arm with Devil's Claw
6 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S6, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
Anti-Monster 4+(Critically Wounds Monsters on 4+ regardless of their Toughness)
Abilities
Scouts 6" (This unit can move 6" before the first round of the game.)
Voice of Command - Straken can issue 2x Orders to Regiment units per turn
Cold Steel and Courage
While leading a unit, the unit has Lethal Hits on their Melee weapons. (So 6's to Hit cause Auto Wounds)
Been there, seen it, killed it
Each time this model make melee attacks, if he Charged, he can re-roll to Hit and re-roll to Wound.
Thoughts
They are good at killing Infantry and Heavy Infantry. They cannot hope to fight a Walker or a Monster and would struggle to do anything to a Vehicle except hold it in Engagement. They do not even have the Grenades strat available to them!
As for the Exarch weapon it is up to the user.
It would be silly for the Exarch to keep the base weapons.
Mirrorswords is just double attacks at the same stats as the Banshee Blade.
The Executioner would be my choice for some Damage 2 in the unit. Like a Powerfist...
And then the Triskele... become sort of meh in combat and have a sort of OKish ranged weapon. It looks cool but it is not practical.
That makes 41 Aeldari Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 56.94% Completed. The total Completed is 22.34% Complete! Can I review them all?!
