Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
A New Season of Reviews - A Challenge accepted!
The nefarious trio of World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons are set to get their new Codexes next. Actually, the great FOUR are each getting their favourite Legion's new Codexes but Emperor's Children did not have an actual Index before.
Anyway. I was speaking to my friend @nicolaasmuller about how my Review posts might not make a lot of money for me, but that cumulatively and on average some of them do good and overall there is an average that at least means that there is good movement of income into the Hobby Fund and that it would grow from there.
We were throwing around some numbers and looking at the average of my last 10 Review Posts, 20 Review posts and 30 Review Posts and we could come up with a range of how much I should theoretically be making across a large sample size of completing the remainder of the reviews for the nefarious trio mentioned above.
So Nicolaas says to me something along the lines of: That would be pretty cool if you could do it in like, a month. Maybe do like 2 a day.
So I explained it would be a little bit more than that but sure... it would be cool... is that a challenge? And yeah... here I am... Challenge accepted. 😎
Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!
This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.
After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out. This is all about to change as I had to cough up money from personal cash to the groom and now have real life bills that cannot wait. I will need to use some of my fund to recompensate myself.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total remaining is $468!
Every bit counts!
Back to the review.
The whole project has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
626 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #255, I am 371 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
World Eaters, Angron
10th Edition Index
Ah, the Red Angel. The Daemon Primarch of the World Eaters Chaos Space Marine Legion. To be honest, this character was insane long before he became a Daemon dedicated to the Blood God.
Now, very much a beast of combat, this model has ZERO ranged attacks, but LOADS of movement and OODLES of close combat power!
There is not much in the game that can last long against Angron and there isn't really anything in the game that I can think of that is better in melee...
However, he is not unkillable. I have killed him once in a game. But he can come back due to the blessings of Khorne! I have heard of games where he was killed FOUR times! Wow!
This powerhouse is 435pts to field and costs you $170!
Let's check his stats.
Stats
Movement 14"
Toughness 11
Save 2+/4++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 16
Ld 5+
OC 6
Weapons
Ranged Weapons
None!
Melee Weapons
Samni'arius and Spinegrinder - Sweep attack option
18 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S8, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
Samni'arius and Spinegrinder - Strike attack option
8 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S16, AP-2 and D6+2 Damage each.
Abilities
Deadly Demise D6 - When he dies, roll a dice and on a 1, he explodes! This deals D6 Mortal Wounds to each unit within 6" of this model.
Deep Strike - When set up from reserves, he can be set up anywhere on the battlefield more than 9" away from enemy models.
Supreme Commander - This model must be your Warlord
Reborn in Blood
Each time you make a Blessings of Khorne roll, if this model is destroyed you can use 3x6's from that roll to use this ability. If you do, this model is no longer destroyed and is placed into Reserves with full Wounds remaining.
Wrathful Presence
At the start of your Charge Phase, select one Wrathful Presence ability to be active until the start of your next Charge phase.
- Glorious Bloodletting (Aura)
Friendly(lol) World Eaters within 6" of this model add 1 to their Charge roll.
- Infectious Rage (Aura)
Friendly World Eaters within 6" of this model that are below starting strength add 1 to the Attacks Characteristic of melee weapons equipped by those models. A unit made of 1 model is considered below Starting Strength if it has lost 1 or more Wounds
- Righteous Slaughter (Aura)
Friendly World Eaters within 6" of this model can re-roll to Hit.
Thoughts
An absolute Beast! He is scary fast and scary powerful.
That Blessings of Khorne is an Army Rule I still need to review but basically it is rolling 8 dice and if you get 3x6 on those dice you can bring Angron back.
This works out to something like a 10% change but it happens a lot.
Meanwhile the Wrathful Presence rule is cool. Re-roll to Hit probably most of the time. Extra attacks when its a horde opponent. +1 to charge should you need to close the gap but Blessings of Khorne also has ways of making your army faster.
Altogether a solid unit to field for any World Eater. Honestly I am surprised whenever I see a World Eater army without Angron in it!
That makes 4 World Eaters Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 17.39% Completed. The total Completed is 27.83% Complete! Can I review them all?!
