Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
A New Season of Reviews - A Challenge accepted!
The nefarious trio of World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons are set to get their new Codexes next. Actually, the great FOUR are each getting their favourite Legion's new Codexes but Emperor's Children did not have an actual Index before.
Anyway. I was speaking to my friend @nicolaasmuller about how my Review posts might not make a lot of money for me, but that cumulatively and on average some of them do good and overall there is an average that at least means that there is good movement of income into the Hobby Fund and that it would grow from there.
We were throwing around some numbers and looking at the average of my last 10 Review Posts, 20 Review posts and 30 Review Posts and we could come up with a range of how much I should theoretically be making across a large sample size of completing the remainder of the reviews for the nefarious trio mentioned above.
So Nicolaas says to me something along the lines of: That would be pretty cool if you could do it in like, a month. Maybe do like 2 a day.
So I explained it would be a little bit more than that but sure... it would be cool... is that a challenge? And yeah... here I am... Challenge accepted. 😎
It is now Day 5 of the Challenge. I am a little behind but I needed to prepare. This is the 7th post of that Challenge!
Totals so far: 4/70 Datasheets done, 3/3 Army Rules done, 0/6 Detachment Rules done. Total 7/79.
Time elapsed: 16.66%
Progress completed: 8.86%
Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!
This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.
After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out. This is all about to change as I had to cough up money from personal cash to the groom and now have real life bills that cannot wait. I will need to use some of my fund to recompensate myself.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total remaining is $468!
Every bit counts!
Back to the review.
The whole project has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
627 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #258, I am 369 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
World Eaters, Eightbound
10th Edition Index
The most extreme form of possession! The Eightbound have allowed eight Daemons of Khorne to be bound within their bodies!
This makes them have the Daemon keyword which is only really bad when an Inquisitor or a Grey Knight is nearby!
Overall, they are a powerhouse combat unit!
It is 140pts for a unit of 3 of these guys and 280pts for a unit of 6. Either is led by a Champion. The box is a set of 3 of them and that costs $62.50
Let's check their stats!
Stats
Movement 9"
Toughness 6
Save 3+/5++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 3
Ld 6+
OC 1
Weapons
Standard Wargear for the Eightbound is Eightbound Eviscerators.
The Champion has Lacerators but can be exchanged with a Heavy Chainglaive
Ranged Weapons
None!
Melee Weapons
Eightboung Eviscerators
6 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S5, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
Lacerators
4 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S9, AP-2 and 3 Damage each.
Heavy Chainglaive
8 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S7, AP-3 and 3 Damage each.
Abilities
Scouts 6" (Before the first turn is taken, this unit can move 6")
Beacons of Rage (Aura)
While a friendly World Eaters unit is within 6" of this unit(so that includes this unit), they can re-roll a Wound roll in melee of a 1. If the target is below half strength, they can re-roll the Wound roll instead, not just 1's.
Thoughts
Well... of course they are dangerous. I think the main thing that makes them dangerous is their speed. 6" Scout, 9" move, a Khorne Blessing that can give them Advance and Charge so D6" and another 2D6" they have an average range of 25" threat from their deployment zone for a maximum of 33".
Their attacks are mighty and can chop most things down. Do not forget that what their profiles have is not all and they have ways to increase the abilities, quantities and quality of their melee attacks.
T6 is great but 3+/5++ means that they are weaker than Custodes... I think my response to Eight bound should be to treat them like Custodes with more attacks. They have poorer saves...
There is an army in the Slow Grow that has these in his army, no doubt I will get a chance to fight them.
That makes 5 World Eaters Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 21.73% Completed. The total Completed is 28.16% Complete! Can I review them all?!
