Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!

Now known as the Unit Review Library!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!

A New Season of Reviews - A Challenge accepted!

The nefarious trio of World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons are set to get their new Codexes next. Actually, the great FOUR are each getting their favourite Legion's new Codexes but Emperor's Children did not have an actual Index before.

Anyway. I was speaking to my friend @nicolaasmuller about how my Review posts might not make a lot of money for me, but that cumulatively and on average some of them do good and overall there is an average that at least means that there is good movement of income into the Hobby Fund and that it would grow from there.

We were throwing around some numbers and looking at the average of my last 10 Review Posts, 20 Review posts and 30 Review Posts and we could come up with a range of how much I should theoretically be making across a large sample size of completing the remainder of the reviews for the nefarious trio mentioned above.

So Nicolaas says to me something along the lines of: That would be pretty cool if you could do it in like, a month. Maybe do like 2 a day.

So I explained it would be a little bit more than that but sure... it would be cool... is that a challenge? And yeah... here I am... Challenge accepted. 😎

It is now Day 5 of the Challenge. I am a little behind but I needed to prepare. This is the 8th post of that Challenge!

Totals so far: 5/70 Datasheets done, 3/3 Army Rules done, 0/6 Detachment Rules done. Total 8/79.

Time elapsed: 16.66%
Progress completed: 10.12%

Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!

This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.

After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out. This is all about to change as I had to cough up money from personal cash to the groom and now have real life bills that cannot wait. I will need to use some of my fund to recompensate myself.

I am collecting funds in the following ways:

  • Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
  • Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
  • Selling some of the collection to friends.

The total remaining is $468!
Every bit counts!

Back to the review.

The whole project has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.

I should have started when 10th edition launched!
627 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #259, I am 368 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)

Death Guard, Death Guard Chaos Spawn

10th Edition Index

So the story about Chaos Spawn is sort of comical.

Chaos Champions often seek Daemonhood. This means immortality, becoming one with the essence of their God and thus being able to be sent into the Materium time and again to die and be re-spawned.

But sometimes instead of becoming a Daemon Prince, they become a Spawn. Sometimes other people or creatures are turned into Chaos Spawns too but generally either way it is because the Chaos Gods are fickle.

Sometimes they will turn a loyal servant into a spawn and other times they turn a failure into a Spawn as punishment. Sometimes the enemy is turned into a spawn and forced to fight for the Death Guard.

They are random and tough to kill!

You buy them for 70pts for a unit of two, the box set has two and costs $58.

Let's check their stats!

Stats

Movement 8"
Toughness 5
Save 4+/5+++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 4
Ld 7+

Weapons

Ranged Weapons

None!

Melee Weapons

Abilities

Regenerating Monstrosities

At the start of each player's Command Phase, one model in this unit regains up to D3 lost wounds.

Thoughts

This is a simple distraction or tarpit unit. When they trap a unit in combat that cannot kill one of them in a turn, will suffer with the Spawns going back to full health again.

Even if something was able to completely overwhelm them and kill them, those are attacks directed at the Spawn and not the Death Guard.

Best thing for this army: They are movement 8 so they can get there first with the foes doing their best to confuse and overwhelm while the Death Guard stalk forward behind them.

That makes 8 Death Guard Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 25% Completed. The total Completed is 28.27% Complete! Can I review them all?!

Sort:

Well they will be trolling all over the battlefield and taking the enemy for a fool. It's quite fitting really since they have been fooled by their patron gods as well.

210pts to take 3 squads of 2, Would do well to cause trouble!
