I am not too sure what I am looking at! Is that its face or its butt?!

Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
A New Season of Reviews - A Challenge accepted!
The nefarious trio of World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons are set to get their new Codexes next. Actually, the great FOUR are each getting their favourite Legion's new Codexes but Emperor's Children did not have an actual Index before.
Anyway. I was speaking to my friend @nicolaasmuller about how my Review posts might not make a lot of money for me, but that cumulatively and on average some of them do good and overall there is an average that at least means that there is good movement of income into the Hobby Fund and that it would grow from there.
We were throwing around some numbers and looking at the average of my last 10 Review Posts, 20 Review posts and 30 Review Posts and we could come up with a range of how much I should theoretically be making across a large sample size of completing the remainder of the reviews for the nefarious trio mentioned above.
So Nicolaas says to me something along the lines of: That would be pretty cool if you could do it in like, a month. Maybe do like 2 a day.
So I explained it would be a little bit more than that but sure... it would be cool... is that a challenge? And yeah... here I am... Challenge accepted. 😎
It is now Day 7 of the Challenge. This is the 12th post of that Challenge! (I somehow got confused about the dates and posts, also my first post of the 30 day challenge was posted on the 14th. fixed now)
Totals so far: 9/70 Datasheets done, 3/3 Army Rules done, 0/6 Detachment Rules done. Total 12/79.
Time elapsed: 23.33%
Progress completed: 15.18%
Hobby Fund - Working myself into the clear
With my hobby posts, I generate a hobby fund. 50% of the income goes into the fund. At the moment I put all my HBD earned from Warhammer posts into my alt account @zakl.hobbyfund.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
At the current count I am paying off some hobby debts. I still have $304 to pay off! I currently have about $8.9 coming in on pending payouts so this should take me down to $295 within 7 days.
Every bit counts!
Back to the review.
The whole project has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
630 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #263, I am 367 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
Thousand Sons, Mutalith Vortex Beast
10th Edition Index
The Mutalith is half beast and half structure and all mutation and flux. It is a Daemon construct/creature that warps reality around itself just as much as it constantly changes its shape.
Feasibly if you stuck a bunch of different Daemon and other parts together and gave it vaguely the same size and shape, you could make one of these out of anything.
This Monster is used to zap at the enemy with its ranged attack as well as boosting the Thousand Sons Rituals.
The Model costs $92 and he is 160pts to field. About the same as a shooting tank or a Dreadnought
Let's check its stats!
Stats
Movement 10"
Toughness 10
Save 4+/5++/5+++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 13
Ld 6+
OC 4
Weapons
Ranged Weapons
Its Ranged Weapon is a Warp Vortex that has 3 firing options. You have to choose 1 each turn.
Warp vortex — torrent
12" Range, 2D6 Shots, Hitting on Auto, S6, AP-1 and 1 Damage each.
Torrent (This weapon hits Automatically, just roll for number of attacks)
Ignores Cover (Enemies do not get Benefit of Cover against this attack)
Warp vortex — blast
24" Range, D6+3 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S9, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
Blast (Get +1 Attack per 5 enemy models in target unit rounding down.)
Warp vortex — beam
24" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 3+, S18, AP-4 and D6+6 Damage each.
Melee Weapons
2 Melee Profiles, essentially a Strike and a Sweep
Betentacled maw
15 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S7, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Mutalith claws
5 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S9, AP-2 and 4 Damage each.
Abilities
Feel No Pain 5+
Deadly Demise D6 (If this model is destroyed, roll a Dice on a 6 it explodes and deals D6 Mortal Wounds to every unit within 6")
Immaterial Flare
Thousand Sons Psykers using Rituals within 6" of this model can double the Range of the Ritual if it has a range.
Mutating Vortex
At the end of your movement phase roll a D6 for every enemy unit within 6" of this model. On a 2-3 that unit suffers 1 Mortal Wound, 4-5 that unit sufferes D3 Mortal Wounds and on a 6 that unit suffers D6 Mortal Wounds.
Each enemy unit within range of this ability must then take a battleshock test.
Thoughts
Ok, this thing is actually ridiculously good value for money. It at least does not have amazing Saves but it has high Toughness, loads of Wounds and a Feel No Pain.
Its offensive Ranged and Melee attacks are super powerful.
It has a choice between a Flamer attack that is more powerful than a Heavy flamer, a "Battle Cannon" type attack, and a super-laser-destroyer attack. The only balance in that is that they are not very long range but this creature moves fast.
In Melee this thing will be able to hack through squads of guardsmen with ease or strike significant blows on medium tanks and the mid-range walkers.
I think its biggest threat in melee is something that can fight and has T10.
Its ability to double Ritual Range is obviously super. I would not be surprised to see two of these creatures, each acting as a hub for sorcerers on either flank of the Thousand Sons lineup.
And the other ability just deals splash Mortals for being around.
I think this thing is really good value for points.
That makes 7 Thousand Sons Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 25% Completed. The total Completed is 28.71% Complete! Can I review them all?!
