Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
419 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #110, I am 309 reviews behind! I ma gaining!!!
Picking them randomly, let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:
Adeptus Mechanicus, Onager Dunecrawler
10th Edition Codex
This is an awesome model I wished I had! The Onager Dunecrawler is a "light walker" but also being on 4 crab legs, makes it look big! And... it carries a wide variety of big guns that just make me so happy!
I have played against these before... I think there were better options he could have selected though...
Anyway, I think that it's look and rules are awesome!
It costs 160pts to field one and the retail for $84 so magnetize those weapons!
Let's look at those stats!
Stats
Movement 8"
Toughness 10
Save 2+/4++(armor/invul/Feel No Pain) - Such good shielding technology on a walker!
Wounds 11
Ld 7+
OC 3
Weapons
Ranged:
The Onager comes with 4 main gun options and can have 1 additional Cognis Heavy Stubber.
Option 1 - Eradication beamer - it has 2 firing options!
It gets stronger the closer you get!
Eradication beamer — dissipated

This weapon has a variable number of attacks, roll two D3's so it can get 2-6 Attacks.

Option 2: 1 Daedalus Missile Launcher and 1 Icarus array
Daedalus missile launcher

Anti-fly +2 (Critically Wounds any target with the Fly Keyword on a 2+)
Icarus array
Range 48", 6 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S8 Ap -1, 2 Damage each
Anti-fly +4 (Critically Wounds any target with the Fly Keyword on a 4+)
Twin-Linked (Re-Roll Wound rolls)
Option 3: 1 Neutron Laser and 1 Cognis heavy stubber
Neutron Laser
Range 48", 3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S16 Ap -4, D6+2 Damage
Heavy (If this model remains stationary, add 1 to Hit rolls for its shots)
Cognis heavy stubber
Range 36", 3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S4 Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Rapid Fire 3 (At half range of 18" get another 3 attacks)

Option 4: Twin Onager Heavy Phosphor Blaster
Twin Onager Heavy Phosphor Blaster
Range 36", 12 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S6 Ap -1, 2 Damage Each
Ignores Cover (Enemies do not get Benefit of Cover against this weapon)
Twin-Linked (Re-Roll Wound rolls)
The Extra - All Onager options can have that extra Cognis Heavy Stubber
Cognis heavy stubber
Range 36", 3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S4 Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Rapid Fire 3 (At half range of 18" get another 3 attacks)
Sustained Hits 1 (On a to Hit roll of 6, gain an additional attack)
Melee:
Dunecrawler legs
3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S6 Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Psychic (This attack has the Psychic Keyword)
Abilities
Deadly Demise D3 (When this model is destroyed, roll a dice, on a 6 it explodes dealing D3 mortal wounds to every enemy unit within 6")
Emanatus Force Field
Friendly Adeptus Mechanicus Battleline units get a 4+ invulnerable saving when they are within 6" of this model.
Scuttling Walker
This model can move over friendly vehicles and monsters that are less than 4" tall.
Wargear Abilities
This model can take a Broad spectrum data-tether... but then you lose the Smoke keyword... Then you can roll a D6 after targeting this model with a Stratagem and on a 5+ you get 1CP back.
To be honest, I would rather keep Smoke, it gives a -1 to Hit to the enemy shooting and Benefit of Cover from everywhere.
Thoughts
So many great guns to choose from!
The Neutron Laser is a great anti-tank weapon.
The Twin Onager Heavy Phosphor is probably my least favourite but it has a lot of shots that could take down even Space Marines
The missile/Icarus combo is great against Fly but not bad against other target. Plenty potential damage.
I really like the Eradication Beamer!
So if I had... 10 of these... 2 would have Phosphor Blasters, 2 would have the Daedalus Missile and Icarus Arry, 3 would have Neutron Lasers and 3 would have Eradication Beamers!
One day...
That makes 9 Adeptus Mechanicus Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 30% Completed! The total Completed is 11.32% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!
