Today I bring you an ornament made with pistachio, cardboard and still life. For those who don't know, the pistachio is a small tree of the genus Pistacia, native to the mountainous regions of Syria, Turkey, Iran and western Afghanistan, which produces an important nut for culinary use called pistachio, pistachio, alfóncigo, alfónsigo [1]. As such we will be using your pistachio shell, as it would normally go in the trash.

Step by step // Paso a paso
1️⃣ To begin with, we fold the sheets of magazine paper and cut them into squares whose sides are twice the diameter of the cardboard tube.

2️⃣ Then we roll the papers around the end of a paintbrush or chopsticks. We glue the outer edge of the paper to form a thin tube of rolled paper.

3️⃣ Next, we paint the rolled papers black and put them to dry. When they are dry, place them perpendicularly to the cardboard tube so that the outer ones protrude. A total of 36 black rolled cardboard tubes should be cut.

4️⃣ We glue kitchen paper or toilet paper to the larger cardboard tube using liquid glue. This way we make sure to give it texture and add more resistance. When the paper dries, we paint the outside of the tube bright white.

5️⃣ To make the flowers we will join two pistachio shells by gluing them at the base with hot silicone and then we will add more shells in an intercalary way and without matching the positions of the shells of the inner layer with the outer one.
Para realizar las flores uniremos dos cáscaras de pistachos pegándolas por la base con silicona caliente y luego iremos agregando más cascaras de forma intercalada y sin que coincidan las posiciones de las cáscaras de la capa interior con la exterior.

6️⃣ Next, we will make flower buds that follow the same principle as the previous flowers, but these do not have outer petals. You can make closed buttons with 2, 4, 6 and even 8 petals.

7️⃣ Then we start gluing the flowers and buttons to the tree branch. We start gluing the flowers on the thicker stems, as these provide better contact surface for the glue and better support.

8️⃣ With the branch decorated, we move on to the base. First, we mark and cut out two circles in a piece of polyspan. We glue one on one end of the tube that we previously painted white and fill the tube with sand or some mineral that adds weight.

9️⃣ The other polyspan circle is pierced in the center, the stem of the branch is inserted and glued at the base to seal the tube filled with sand.

🔟 Finally, we will glue the black paper rolls around the base of the ornament. We will glue two by two simulating a kind of wooden pyre, but gradually rotating the shape of the structure as if it were a spiral.
Para finalizar iremos pegando los rollos de papel negros alrededor de la base del adorno. Pegaremos de dos en dos simulando una especie de pira de madera, pero rotando poco a poco la forma de la estructura como si de una espiral se tratase.

And that would be all. It is not a difficult ornament to make, but if it is the first time you work with hot silicone you have to be careful not to burn yourself when making the flowers. Other than that, the rest consists of gluing, cutting and painting. But above all we are creating art from recycled materials that would otherwise end up in the trash.
Y pues eso sería todo. No es un adorno difícil de hacer, pero si es la primera vez que trabajas con silicona caliente hay que tener cuidado de no quemarse a la hora de hacer las flores.
