I want to share with you all the procedures i used in making a pillow out of old car sit foams at my work place.
Initially, the old foams were supposed to be recycled but for some reason , i stored them in a safe place and gladly i used it for something very important.
Recently, i went to buy some pillows and i was told it's sold at the rate of 5 dollars and i was surprised. Actually i knew I'd be able to do it but i just wanted to try buying at once to ease myself from the stress of making it but after i heard that price, I took it upon myself to make it alone.
I got to my work place and transferred the old foams to my house and started work immediately
The materials and machine i used were as follows:
- The old car sit foam
- My knife or scissors
- old bedspread
- My pillow casses
- Sewing machine
And these are the steps i used in making it
I brought out my foams and this is how the car foam looked like before i started making use of it
I picked up my knife and cut it into small sizes so that it will be easier for me to cut it into smaller sizes
After that i used the first sizes i cut to cut it into smaller sizes, a size that will be nice enough to create comfortability when you lie on it
I kept on cutting although it wasn't an easy process, it was more difficult than i thought. I rested for a while but never gave up , i kept doing it
And finally I finished cutting, i was excited that at least I've gotten to half of what i was supposed to do and what was left was just easy
And then i picked my old bedspread and cut it into a rectangular shape and sew round and left one part so that i can insert the foams into it
I made 3 different ones and then i picked the foams into the first one till it was full
I then sealed it using my sewing machine i sew round several times to that it won't loosen easily
I then fixed in the second pillow and sew it
I did same with the third pillow and finally it was completed
Finally i was able to minimize my cost and make even more than i wanted to purchase, i pays to do it yourself (diy)
