It has always been a pleasure to share my art with people here and hence, carefully explain how i created the art till finished stage. Creating a portrait is a stressful task and i must say, lot of people feel like learning how to draw but can not adopt the stress involved.
The you person holding the art is my new student. i will happily introduce her to Hive.
Back to the basis, i started the art with an accurate sketch using the following materials;
A graphite pencil
A tissue paper
A projector
This are the materials that i used for the shading process
A projector do help me achieve an accurate sketch within few minutes.
Using a projector is simple but one have to be careful of not letting anything shift it as it's too technical to align it again on the partially sketched art.
When i was done with the projector sketch process, i pasted it on the board and made proper mark out of parts that where not visible during projector sketching process.
I proceeded to shading process. The major challenge in portrait drawing is shading. During this process, all the basic skills needed are unleash. One have to be careful in order to avoid staining the paper most important, balancing of tones. If you can't balance tone, you will end up making your art dark when the person have a white skin which may lead to rejection.
This face costed me about 6hours of careful shading and observations. I used a Mono Zero eraser to detail her hair flow after spreading charcoal powder using my first finger.
The hair line effect was done with a well sharpened charcoal pencil.
I shaded her cloth and attached a paper tape to mark boarder. When I was done with the upper region, i created highlights using an electric eraser.
I pulled out the tape carefully and was done with the drawing and move to framing process.
Here is the finished work:
My client was satisfied and even appreciated with an additional fee.
Thanks for reading through my post.
