Materials
- Two Plastic bottles
- Carton
- Glue
- A pair of scissors
- Pencil
Steps
Step 1
I cut out the triangular part of two plastic bottles
Step 2
I placed one of the plastic bottles on a piece of Carton such that the smaller opening is in contact with the carton. Then I traced that opening on the carton using my pencil
Step 3
I cut out the circle I traced using my scissors. This circular carton would serve as an anchor between the two plastics
Step 4
I poked a hole through the middle of the circular carton which I cut out. This hole is where the sand would flow through.
Step 5
Next, I traced two bigger circles on a piece of Carton
Step 6
I cut out the two circles using my scissors
Step 7
I glued the small circular carton which I poked earlier, to the smaller opening of the plastic bottle.
Step 8
I glued the second plastic bottle to the other free end of the carton such that the two plastic bottles are joined at the middle.
Step 9
I glued one of the bigger circles I cut out to the bigger opening of one of the plastics.
Step 10
I poured in sand through the free end of the other plastic
Step 11
I glued the second big circle I cut out to the remaining free end of the plastic.
That's it. The sand clock is finished.
It is refreshing to see that a simple sand clock can be made from just cartons and plastic bottles. This craft is a way of upcycling plastic bottles. We all know how damaging plastic bottles can be to the environment if not properly disposed. Hence, a project such as this is helpful to the environment, because it is a way of reusing plastics. I do hope you like my sand clock.
