A secret between friends / Un secreto entre amigos

Hola amigos:

Hoy quiero compartir un secreto con ustedes que espero sea de su agrado. Se trata de una manualidad que realicé para mi niño donde guardaré sus dientes temporales cuando los mude.

Ratoncito Pérez es un roedor muy valiente que anda recogiendo dientes y a cambio deja monedas en las casas de los pequeños. Los niños se ponen muy ansiosos por ver a este personaje y siempre les hacemos una historia para mantener a salvo esta fantasía.

Por eso este proyecto será un secreto para mi hijo. Aquí guardaré estas piezas que Pérez me donará seguramente sin que él lo sepa y se lo entregaré cuando haya mudado todos sus dientes... bueno, si es que no se entera antes, pues los niños son muy traviesos y no se les puede guardar por mucho tiempo un secreto.

Para esos pequeños de hoy que serán los grandes de mañana va este proyecto con todo el amor del mundo. Soy madre y entiendo las necesidades de los niños de crecer felices bajo nuestro cariño y enseñanza.

Me inspiré en algo que fuera factible para ambos sexos y que les motivara a los niños poseer. Para ello realicé un estuche en cartulina que elaboré en forma de una muelita, y luego lo pinté de blanco.

I took the cardboard and folded it in half. I drew half of a tooth on it with the pen. I used a size so that it would fit in the palm of my hand and all 32 pieces of the teeth would fit. I cut out and used this pattern tooth to make three more teeth.

Tomé la cartulina y la doblé a la mitad. Sobre ella dibujé con el bolígrafo la mitad de una muela. Utilicé un tamaño de forma tal que me cupiera en la palma de la mano y estuvieran bien las 32 piezas de los dientes. Recorté y utilicé esta muelita de patrón para hacer tres muelitas más.

I glued the teeth on a sheet of white paper that I cut out and finished by gluing the back with small cuts that allowed me to adjust the shape of the teeth.

Las muelitas las pegué sobre una hoja de papel blanco que recorté y rematé pegando por la parte de atrás con pequeños cortes que me permitieron ir acomodando a la forma de la muela.

I marked two lines on the cardboard: a first one of 3 centimetres and a second one 1 centimetre apart from the previous one.

I cut along the second line and made a fold along the first line to make a 90-degree angle. Then I made small cuts in the shape of a triangle to allow me to shape this piece when joining.

I made two pieces like this one.

Sobre la cartulina marqué dos líneas: una primera de 3 centímetros y otra a continuación de 1 centímetro de separación con respecto a la anterior.

Corté por la segunda línea e hice un doblez por la primera línea para que resultará un ángulo de 90 grados. Luego realicé pequeños cortes en forma de triángulo para que me permitan moldear esta pieza a la hora de la unión.

Realicé dos ejemplares como este.

Now I joined a piece of grinding wheel with a strip:

A small fold to the strip to make it easier to attach the two pieces, starting with the middle of the grinding wheel at the top.

From here I began to glue all the sections of the strip onto the edge of the grinding wheel, achieving a 90 degree angle and fitting all around its irregular edge.

Ahora uní una pieza de muela con una franja:

Un pequeño doblez a la franja para facilitar acoplar ambas piezas, comenzando por la mitad de la muela por la parte superior.

A partir de aquí comencé a pegar todas las secciones de la franja sobre el borde de la muelita, lográndose un ángulo de 90 grados y acomodando por todo su borde irregular.

I made the border on the lower part of the tooth. I did the same process with two of the small teeth. Thus two parts of the case were formed: the base and the lid.

El empate de la franja lo realicé en la parte inferior de la muela. Este mismo proceso lo realicé con dos de las muelitas. Así se formaron dos partes del estuche: la base y la tapa.

I cut a strip 3 centimetres wide along the length of the sheet of paper (21 centimetres) and rolled it completely in a circle. Then I loosened it and this circle opened up. Then I glued the end of the strip so that the circle would not unravel.

With my fingertips I pinched this circle on two sides and on the opposite side I pressed it inwards in such a way that it resembled a tiny tooth.

Corté una tira de 3 centímetros de ancho a lo largo de la hoja de papel (21 centímetros) y la enrollé completamente en forma circular. Luego la solté y se abrió este círculo. Entonces pegué el final de la tira para que no se deshiciera el círculo.

Con la punta de los dedos pellisqué por dos partes este círculo y por el lado opuesto presioné hacia adentro de forma tal que similara una muelita pequeñita.

With white glue I reinforced the little paper millstone and glued it onto one of the case lids.

I applied white paint all over the surface of both parts and let it air dry.

Con cola blanca reforcé la pequeña muelita de papel y la pegué sobre una de la tapa del estuche.

Apliqué pintura blanca por todas la superficie de ambas partes y dejé secar al aire.

When it was completely dry, I incorporated the other two flat pieces into each part as a lining and finished them off on the inside.

Cuando estuvo bien seco, incorporé dentro de cada parte las otras dos piezas planas en forma de muela como forro y terminación de las mismas por dentro.

Then I looked for the jar where I had kept the little pearls from his mouth (teeth), put them inside the new case and put the lid on.

This way the project was finished and now I will keep it in a safe place so that my prince won't know of its existence until he has all his little teeth inside.

Luego busqué el frasco donde tenía guardados las perlitas de su boca (dientes), las introduje dentro del nuevo estuche y le coloqué la tapa.

De esta forma quedó terminado el proyecto que ahora guardar en un lugar seguro para que mi príncipe no sepa de su existencia hasta que tenga dentro todos sus dientecitos.
