My childhood was greatly influenced by my grandmother, who was not a professional seamstress, but whatever she set her mind to, she achieved. With little education, but with a soul filled with so much love that any desire to help her family came true with the ease of her industrious hands.
I grew up watching my grandmother's work, how she made clothes for us from scraps left over from other pieces. She has been my inspiration and today I feel like a continuation of her drive for the family.
I saw her dismantling piles of clothes and always reforming them to give a new use to the clothes that for some reason no longer fulfilled their functions, but whose fabrics were in good condition and could be used for other purposes.
That's where I get my ideas of transformation and this time I came up with the idea of giving life to a dress resulting from the union of two pieces that no longer had any sense of use on their own, as neither me nor the baby had any use for them.
Mi niñez fue muy influenciada por mi abuela que no era costurera profesional, pero lo que se proponía lo lograba. Con pocos estudios, pero con un alma colmada de tanto amor que cualquier deseo en post de ayudar a su familia se le hacía realidad con la facilidad de la laboriosidad de sus manos.
Crecí viendo el trabajo de mi abuela, cómo nos hacía ropas a partir de retazos sobrantes de otras piezas. Ha sido ella mi inspiración y hoy me siento continuadora de sus ganas de empuje por la familia.
La vi desarmando montones de ropa y reformando siempre para dar utilidad a las ropas que por algún motivo ya no cumplían sus funciones, pero que sus telas estaban en buenas condiciones y servían para otros usos.
De ahí me llegan mis ideas de transformación y esta vez se me ocurrió dar vida a un vestido resultante de la unión de dos piezas que ya no tenían sentido de uso por sí solas, pues ni a mí ni a la bebé nos servían.

With the help of a pencil and the centimetre I marked the baby's clothes to make a cut that would be a little above the waist to join the denim piece.
Con la ayuda de un lápiz y el centímetro marqué la ropita de la bebé para hacer un corte que le quede un poco más arriba de la cintura para unir a la pieza de mezclilla.
I took my denim jumper and taking advantage of the seam at the bottom I measured and cut a distance that would be below the baby's knees when I sewed it to the top.
Tomé mi saya de mezclilla y aprovechando la costura de los bajos medí y corté una distancia que le quedara por debajo de las rodillas a la bebé cuando la cosiera con la parte de arriba.
As the skirt was too wide, I removed a section of the skirt and closed it again. Then I sewed the seam allowance between the baby's clothes part and the skirt part.
Cómo la saya tenía mucho ancho, le quité una sección y la volví a cerrar. Luego realicé la costura de empate de la parte de la saya con la parte de la ropita de la bebé.
From the piece I removed, I cut strips that I tied together to make a long strip that would serve as a band to adjust the dress. I also made a band with what was left of the baby's clothes to make a headband.
De la pieza que retiré, corté franjas que empaté para hacer una tira larga que serviría de banda para ajustar el vestido. También hice una banda con lo que quedó de la ropita de la bebé para hacer una cinta para el cabello.
With the rest of the denim I made two rectangles to make two bows, in the same way I did with the remaining fabric of the baby's clothes and placed them on the waistband of the dress and on the headband.
Con el resto de la mezclilla realicé dos rectángulos para hacer dos lazos, de igual forma hice con la tela restante de la ropita de la bebé y los coloqué en la banda de ajuste del vestido y en el cintillo para el cabello.
This is the final result of the work done with my own hands that will serve as another change of clothes for my baby and with this I achieved:
Extend the useful life of two pieces of clothing that were merged into one and didn't end up as rags in the trash.
Make my own creation without the need to invest or spend on extra resources, only with what I had at home.
To develop my creativity in finding and solving problems with available materials and tools and above all with my own hands.
Este es el resultado final del trabajo realizado con mis propias manos que le servirá a mi bebé como otro cambio de ropa y con esto logré:
Alargar la vida útil a dos piezas de ropa que se fusionaron en una y no terminaron como trapos en la basura.
Hacer una creación propia sin necesidad de invertir o gastar en recursos extras, solamente con lo que tenía en casa.
Desarrollar mi creatividad en la búsqueda y resolución de problemas a partir de materiales y herramientas disponibles y sobre todo con mis propias manos.
