বাংলাদেশের জন্য আজকের স্বাধীনতা দিবস একটি আত্মত্যাগ ও গর্বের দিন। ১৯৭১ সালের আজকের দিনে এদেশের মানুষ পৃথিবীর বুকে নতুন মানচিত্র তৈরি করে। বাঙালির মুক্তির সকল আকাঙ্খা সেদিন একত্রিত হয়েছিল। আকাশের নক্ষত্রমণ্ডলী অনুসারে সেদিন হাজারো ঘটনার জন্ম হয়েছিল। যেন সব জাতি একই অঙ্গীকার নিয়ে মুক্তিযুদ্ধে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ে। তখন রক্তাক্ত হয়ে এই সবুজ বাংলা ভিন্ন রূপ পায়। সেই মুহূর্তের বাঙালি বীরত্বের ইতিহাস বহু জায়গায় চর্চিত হয়েছে। বাঙালির হৃদয়ে এই ইতিহাস চিরকাল বেঁচে থাকবে।
Today is Independence Day, a day of sacrifice and pride for Bangladesh. On this day in 1971, the people of this country made a new map of the world. All the aspirations of the Bengalis for liberation were unified that day. According to the constellations of the sky, thousands of events were born on that day. It is as if all nations jumped into the war of liberation with the same pledge. At that time, this green Bengal got a different look after being bloodied. The history of Bengali heroism of that moment has been studied in many places. This history will remain alive in the heart of Bengalis from time immemorial.
ভারত ও পাকিস্তান 1947 সালে দ্বিজাতিতত্ত্বের ভিত্তিতে গঠিত হয়েছিল; কিন্তু সে সময় এই ভূখণ্ডের নাম ছিল পূর্ব পাকিস্তান। দীর্ঘ ব্রিটিশ শাসন থেকে মুক্ত হয়ে স্বাধীনতার হাওয়া পাওয়া এ অঞ্চলের মানুষের ইচ্ছা ছিল, কিন্তু পাকিস্তান রাষ্ট্রের জন্ম হলেও এ অঞ্চলের মানুষ মুক্তি পায়নি। পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের জনগণ তাদের রাষ্ট্রের অত্যাচার ও অত্যাচারে অতিষ্ঠ হয়ে ওঠে, পাকিস্তানিদের আসল চেহারা উপলব্ধি করে। স্বাধীনতার স্বপ্ন ধীরে ধীরে মানুষের মনে শিকড় গেড়েছিল। অবশেষে ১৯৭১ সালের ৭ মার্চ রেসকোর্স ময়দানে স্বাধীনতার মহানায়ক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান বাঙালি জাতিকে স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামের জন্য প্রস্তুত থাকতে বলেন। ১৯৭১ সালের ২৫ মার্চ রাতে ঢাকাসহ দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থানে পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনী নির্বিচারে হত্যাকাণ্ড চালায়। মধ্যরাতের পর জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানকে হানাদার বাহিনীর হাতে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। গ্রেফতারের আগে অর্থাৎ ২৬ তারিখে মার্চের প্রথম প্রহরে তিনি বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা ঘোষণা করেন।
India and Pakistan were formed in 1947 based on biracialism, But at that time the name of this land was East Pakistan. It was the wish of the people of this region to be free from the long British rule and get the air of independence, but despite the birth of the state of Pakistan, the people of this region have not been liberated. The people of East Pakistan became disgusted with the tyranny and oppression of their state. Realizes the true face of Pakistanis. The dream of freedom gradually took root in the minds of the people. Finally, on March 7, 1971, the great hero of independence, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman asked the Bengali nation to be ready for the freedom struggle at the Race Course Ground. On the night of March 25, 1971, the Pakistani aggressors carried out indiscriminate killings in different parts of the country including Dhaka. After midnight, The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested by the invading forces. Before the arrest, that is, on the 26th in the early hours of March, he declared the independence of Bangladesh.
এরপর ২৬ ও ২৭ মার্চ চট্টগ্রামের স্বাধীন বাংলা বেতার কেন্দ্র থেকে বঙ্গবন্ধুর নামে স্বাধীনতার ঘোষণা প্রচার করা হয়। স্বাধীনতার সংগ্রাম রাতারাতি ঘটেনি; দীর্ঘদিন ধরে এই সংগ্রাম ধীরে ধীরে বড় আকার ধারণ করেছে। ১৯৫২ সালের ভাষা আন্দোলন ছিল স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামের প্রথম পর্যায়। সেই ধারা এবং পরবর্তীতে ইতিহাসের সবচেয়ে জঘন্য গণহত্যা বাঙালির স্বাধীনতা আন্দোলনকে চূড়ান্ত রূপ দেয়।
After that, the declaration of independence was broadcast in the name of Bangabandhu on March 26 and 27 from Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra in Chittagong. The struggle for independence did not happen overnight; this struggle has gradually gotten bigger for a long time. The language movement of 1952 was the first stage of the freedom struggle. According to historians, the seeds of independence were rooted in the language movement. But due to the conspiracy of the rulers, they could not hold the state power. Later, that trend and the most heinous genocide in history gave the Bengali independence movement the ultimate form.
স্বাধীনতা অর্জনে এদেশের মানুষ সর্বোচ্চ আত্মত্যাগের দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করেছে। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ৯ মাসে এদেশের তিন লাখ মানুষ জীবন দিয়েছে, নির্যাতিত হয়েছে। লাখ লাখ মা-বাবা তাদের মর্যাদা হারিয়েছেন। আল-বদর, আল-শামস এবং শান্তি কমিটির সদস্যরা পাকিস্তানিদের সহযোগী হিসেবে কাজ করেছে। সর্বস্তরের মানুষ মুক্তিযুদ্ধে অংশগ্রহণ করলে স্থানীয় এসব শাসকদের তৎপরতায় বহু মানুষ প্রাণ হারায়, প্রাণ হারায়। এই রাজাকার বাহিনী অনেক মুক্তিযোদ্ধাকে নিজেরাই হত্যা করে পাকিস্তানীদের হাতে তুলে দিয়েছে। তৎকালীন অস্থায়ী সরকার (10 এপ্রিল 1971 সালে মুজিবনগর, মেহেরপুরে অস্থায়ী সরকার গঠিত হয়েছিল) দেশের মধ্যে এই শত্রুদের ধ্বংস করে স্বাধীনতা অর্জনের জন্য একটি সামরিক পরিকল্পনা নিয়ে। কর্নেল এম এ জি ওসমানী মুক্তিবাহিনীর সর্বাধিনায়ক নিযুক্ত হন। তার নেতৃত্বে ৯ মাস রক্তক্ষয়ী যুদ্ধের পর দেশ স্বাধীন হয়।

In the 9 months of the war of liberation, three lakh people of this country have given their lives and have been oppressed. Millions of mothers and fathers have lost their dignity. Al-Badr, Al-Shams, and members of the peace committee have acted as accomplices of the Pakistanis. When people from all walks of life participated in the war of liberation, many people lost their lives and lost their lives in the activities of these local rulers. Many freedom fighters have been killed by themselves and handed over to the Pakistanis by these razakar forces. The then Provisional Government (Provisional Government was formed at Mujibnagar, Meherpur on 10 April 1971) with a military plan to achieve independence by destroying these enemies within the country. Colonel M.A.G Osmani was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of the Mukti Bahini. Under his leadership, after 9 months of bloody war, the country became independent.
