There is a lot of talk around the $WOO token in the last weeks, but I can rarely see anything about the game mechanics. I think that is what will bring value to the $WOO token. So I want to fill this gap with this series!
I did a research on all the blogposts shared, listened to AMAs and asked also Bookerman a few questions to give you as much information as possible.
Articles will be created on:
This is the 3rd article : Land.
How to play WOO
Your wrestling organization can have:
- Wrestlers
- Managers
- Land plots
Just like the real wrestling organizations you will manage your people and your stadium/s.
Let's look at how you can earn some profit to improve your organization:
- Try to win Shows with your Wrestler and Manager NFT cards
- Own Land, where Shows can be arranged. Earn dividends, when Shows are organized on your Land. Improve your Land to earn even more.
- Create Promotions (Guilds) and manage them. Promotions can create Championship Titles as well, which the winning organization earns! If in a Show the Champion Title is on stake, then the Promotion members receive dividends.
Now let's get to our todays topic...
WOO Land : Preparation
Land concept in the Crypto World is for me a Unicorn. Everyone heard about it, few of them saw one. We know them all The Sandbox, Decentraland, Land in Axie Infinity or Splinterlands. There was a massive demand for them, they promised new shiny things, new revenue streams, new items, and everything else you can imagine, but the promises were often greater then the products... if delivered.
Let me make something clear:
Let's get back to the roots of the game: Wrestling. Every Show has to be organized somewhere, this is where land comes in.
Now the success of a Show is influenced by a lot of things like how many fans are living in the area or what the capacity of the stadium is.
The success of a stadium can be measured by the cut from each Show which is organized on it. The bigger the Show the bigger the cut. And this is what the base idea of Land is.
Land distribution
According to the first information there will be 20 territories, all of which have 10.000 land plots.
Most of the plots will be sold to the players. This might happen at once or in phases. This is still on the dev team to decide, but most probably one region will be on sale at a time.
The WOO team will manage 10.000 plots, so the game can be played at all times. Some plots might be used for promotion or given to partners.
Territories might be available for partners.
How to earn with Land
Let's get back a bit to Shows. We already talked about how a match works, now let's get to the part before it.
As the boss of a Traveling Wrestling Organization your first job is to decide, where you want to do your Show. Here are the factors, which might impact your decision:
- Territories Reward Pool
- Rarity and Upgrades of the Land Plot
- Depletion of the Land Plot (Like ECR in Splinterlands. There is currently no working name for this, I took creative liberty to name it somehow)
- Travel costs
Territories Reward Pool
Each territory will have a separate reward pool. This reward pool will be filled at the beginning of each "season" (a preset amount of days). The reward pool will decrease, when Shows are organized on one of it's plots. The rewards for Shows might decrease with the depletion of the Territories Reward Pool. A Territory might run out of rewards.Rewards are distributed after a successful Show to the Territory owner, the Land plot owner as well as the Shows winner.
Rarity and Upgrades of Land Plots
After reveal each land plot will have it's own rarity. We know of 3 variables, which will impact earnings:- Population : How many people live on land.
- Fanbase : How many % of the population are interested in Wrestling.
- Wealth : How much money is the fanbase willing to pay.
Each of these attributes can have a rarity of 1-3 stars. More stars mean better stats for the land.
To arrange a Show on a plot the land owner has to have a Venue for the fights. These starts from a field in the middle of nowhere to huge stadiums.
The size of the venue will corelate with the amount of fans able to be hosted and this impacts directly the income. There will also be Shows, which can't be arranged in plots with smaller Venues (i.e. Title Fights). As land owners will get a cut from the winning Shows they are motivated to improve their land so that it is used as much as possible. Upgrades also increase their own revenue from shows.
All venues have facilities, like bathrooms, parking or concession, which increase the revenue and are mandatory to upgrade Venue. All these upgrades will cost $WOO.
There are also rumors, that Lore cards found in WOOSATURN, WOORAVEN and WOOREWARD packs can be burned for special upgrades in Stadiums. For example an increase reward % if a Technical character wins the Main event of a Shows on the plot.
Here I would like to note, that Wrestling Organizations can upgrade their fame with special activities and these can increase their income from Shows as well.
Depletion of the land plot
As Territories, Lands will also have a limited price pool, which will deplete the more Shows are organized there. The more fights a Wrestling Organization does on one plot, the less rewards they will get from that plot. The explanation is that fans can't bored by the same show, so the traveling organizations will attract less fans if they stay to long. This builds up a pressure for the organization to Travel to a new plot.
Travel Costs
When a Wrestling Organization wants to move to a new location, then there is a travel fee associated with it.There is a bonus for plot owners. It should be free to return to an owned plot! A great reason to have a plot ;)
Strategies for Wrestling Organizations
As you can see, there are a few mechanics, which motivate players to switch between plots and territories:
- Less rewards from the same plot over time
- Depletion of the territories Reward Pool
and on the other hand there is also a mechanic to prevent constant movement: the travel fees.
According to me there will be 2 main strategies in the game:
- To occupy the plots with highest rarity + upgrades and try to earn as much as possible in a limited timeframe and then to move to the next highest paying plot (highest profit). There will be a concurrence fight on these plots, making them deplete faster.
- To occupy a less developed land, where no other or only a few players are situated and deplete the plot without traveling. (relaxed approach)
The effectivity of these two approaches will be mainly influenced by the travel costs, which might minimize the wins of frequent travelers. The optimal strategy might be a combination of both strategies, starting with the highest profit to the point, where rewards don't outperform travel costs, at which point the wrestling organization will settle to a plot with fewer competition.
Wrestling Organizations with a Plot should always remember that it is FREE to travel to a plot they own! So this is always a good place to travel to ;)
This is how much info I could collect for this post. Feel free to add anything I missed in the comments or your ideas/improvements :)
