Good day musicians, I'm glad to be here, hope we're all doing fine, well I hope so. Today I will be talking about something I recently experienced during my family devotion, I noticed something everybody was ignoring, maybe because my siblings are not music inclined, I call it the MUSIC CRISIS.
there are crisis that we experience in music sections or while singing, mostly with a group of people that don't really pay attention to the music. Before I even go further, music won't work for somany people because they fail to pay attention even to what they're singing, some people just sing with assumptions that they know the lyrics and in most cases they're wrong either with the lyrics or the rythm.
When the lyrics is not inline with the rythm
This is one of the major reasons why we experience crisis in music, when the lyrics is faster than the rythm, now note that this would mostly happen when the lead vocalist is anchoring the song maybe with dynamics or excess skills haha 😂, sometimes the lead vocalist would love to show off by doing things like riffs and runs which would definitely cause confusion among the back up singers.
I use to think it's good to show off, though sometimes it's interesting but the thing is that music brings different kind people together and to everybody would find it interesting, moreover as a lead vocalist, the priority is to carry the backup singers along side.
Good timing and counting/ at what count does the lyrics starts and ends.
One thing people also need to know is how to count in music, it's looks kind of difficult for people that don't really know it because they can't count and sing at the same time, yeah it's true but I will give you a secret, we don't count and sing intentional, most people are already used to counting, infact sometimes we humm the rythm while counting. And also you don't learn how to count while singing. Lastly you can easily count while singing by clapping your hands, snapping your fingers 🤌 and hitting your foot against the floor.
There are things I use to call the remedy of music crisis:
Understanding the lead vocalist/ Good listening ability.
My coach use to tell me that whoever wants to be a beautiful singer must be a good backup, being a good backup requires for understanding and control because sometimes you might be tempted to switch parts, we must learn to understand the lead vocalist in order to flow well. We also need to understand that whatever the lead vocalist does, as long as it's still in the same song our responsibility as backup is to respond, the lead vocalist might riff up and down or even change part which might be tempting, but never to forget that we only have to respond when due and in our parts.
