On Sunday, the congregation had an opportunity to celebrate all the men in the church. As a source of relief, good music was played and all men were called up to the podium to dance.
Why? Generally, men are seen to be a species that tends to keep their feelings to themselves or their spouse or society, making it difficult to discern when they are happy or not. So, one of the ways to relieve them is to create a conducive environment where they listen to relaxing music and forget their worries.
Apart from food which men love, music is one of the languages that affects the soul of a man. As the rhythms captivate them, they respond impulsively to the sound even though it may take a long time. As an organized sound that is pleasing to the ear of a father, it is possible to know what is going on with him; just create an environment where a piece of soft music connects to their soul. Let me dive a little bit into other roles music does for a father.
Another role music plays in the lives of fathers is how it is used to connect them with their kids. I remember vividly the lullaby my dad often sang before I could sleep. The sound is evergreen in my memory because it reminds me of the warmness I felt when he carried me around as a child. More so, there are some songs when a father sings that relate to generational stories of his community. He can use songs to pass lessons and details about culture and traditions down to his children.
A father can use music to create harmony in the house. For instance, during family time, a father can initiate a game that involves music to play, and then family members join in dancing to the rhythm. It's a simple but strategic approach to family growth.
Finally, music can be a learning skill a father would want his child to learn. So, by being conversant with music there is an enthusiasm that can be transferred to the children to learn music.
