Do you hear a song and it lifts your spirit instantaneously? Like you move from being all gloomy to feeling all excited and you just want to keep listening to that particular song over and again. This is how I feel every time I listen to Who's Your Guy by Spyro ft Tiwa Savage.
While I’m a sucker for anything and everything that screams Ballad this particular afrobeat music is my favorite and it gets me in the mood every single time.
Who's Your Guy is a friendship song, it appreciates the beauty and nature of friendship, and it shows how important our friends are to us.
In all honesty, no man is an island no matter how we try to make it look like we can live in this world all by ourselves, once in a while we all need that one person to lean on or to talk to, that one person that gets you without you having to say too much and I am glad I have that one person in my corner.
I chose this particular song for Dreem-WOTW because I choose to celebrate my friends today, tomorrow and always. The song also reminds me of how much I have grown in maintaining friendships and relationships with other people. Listening and holding onto the lyrics of this song is a constant reminder of how much my friends mean to me and how much effort I am willing to put into making my relationships with people grow.
In a world full of so many fake and dishonest people, a world where two humans can move from buddies to sworn enemies, it’s safe to say that over time I have been able to choose the best set of humans as friends, they are not perfect but they are all awesome in their little ways and that to me is enough🥰🥰
I will always say that friendship is a beautiful thing, and I will continue to encourage people not to miss out on it because a certain someone betrayed you or a certain someone broke your trust. Getting hurt is inevitable but it’s wrong to close your heart to genuine friendships.
The world is not as bad as we think as good people still exist and should be given second chances.
The song lays emphasis on the need to be there for our friends, it talks about loyalty and trust which is the foundation on which genuine friendships are born and nurtured. I believe so much in friendship and I love it.
Friendship goes beyond “His my friend or she’s my friend”, are your words backed up with actions? Are you willing to put in the work or you just want to sit on the sidelines and watch everything play out?
This song inspires me to be a better friend. I remember when I was the speaker and never the listener, I could go on and on blabbing about my life to my friends and not listening to what they say, I would always interject. Back then it was always about me but I had no idea. In my head my friends were enjoying my endless stories little did I know that while some genuinely enjoyed my unending ramblings the others saw me as a selfish person.
I had to change the very day a friend of mine called me to order and ever since then no matter the amount of fantastic stories I have in my head to share with you there must first be effective communication. We must both take turns talking about our lives and this has been working out well.
If you ever want to listen to something really nice you can listen to Who's Your Guy as the song never gets old.
Cheers to all the friendships we have made overtime, may it continue to wax stronger and stronger as the days go by and to the ones we will make in the future may they all be awesome🥰🥂
