I thought of doing something different today, and I’m here to share some Afrobeat songs that feature both Afrobeat artists and American artists. These collaborations always fascinate me because they blend two distinct musical styles into something unique and exciting. Let me take you through three songs that, in my opinion, stand out from the rest.

The first song that comes to mind is Happiness by Sarz featuring Asake and Gunna. Honestly, when I first came across this song, I couldn’t help but wonder how Asake, who sings in Yoruba and has such a unique Afrobeat vibe, would blend with Gunna, a renowned American rapper. It felt like an unexpected combination, but to my surprise, they pulled it off perfectly. Asake’s intro was nothing short of brilliant, and his verse was just splendid—it was the kind of performance that draws you in from the start. Gunna, on the other hand, brought his own style to the table, and together they complemented each other so well. Sarz is basically a producer and as always he was exceptional with the beat and production. The song itself is about embracing happiness and doing things that genuinely make you happy. It’s a track that effortlessly lifts your mood, and I’ve found myself going back to it again and again.

Next up is the Grammy-winning song Brown Skin Girl by Beyoncé and Wizkid. This song was released several years ago, but every time I listen to it, it feels just as magical as it did the first time. The lyrics, melody, and rhythm are timeless. Beyoncé’s voice is so soothing and powerful, and Wizkid’s contribution was nothing short of phenomenal. To be honest, I think this was one of Wizkid’s biggest features in his career—it elevated his global presence in a way few other collaborations could. The song itself celebrates the beauty of black women, and it does so in the most heartwarming way. It topped so many charts and won several awards, including a Grammy, which came as no surprise because it was simply phenomenal. Everything about the song feels intentional and well-thought-out, from the lyrics to the captivating rhythm. Even after all these years, it remains a favorite of mine, and I’m sure many others feel the same way.

Lastly, there’s Sensational by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay. This is a recent track that has already been nominated for the Grammys in the Afrobeat Song of the Year category. I hav always been a fan of songs with uplifting rhythms, and this one hits the mark perfectly. It’s the kind of song that gets you nodding your head, better yet, has you dancing away your sorrows. The beat is infectious, and I think that’s what I love most about it. Chris Brown, Davido, and Lojay each brought their A game and made me have an unforgettable listening experience. Even though the lyrics don’t carry much depth or meaning to me, the melodies and overall vibe make up for it. It’s simply a feel-good song, and every time I listen to it, I can’t help but feel a wave of joy and excitement.

In conclusion, these songs show how beautiful collaborations between Afrobeat and American artists can be. They blend two distinct musical styles and create something that resonates with a global audience. Listening to them have brought me so much joy, and I hope they do the same for you. Let me know which one is your favorite, or if there are others I should check out!
