Je Te Laisserai Des Mots... (I'll Leave You Words)

in #hive-1928063 years ago

Mister Sun was sent back to Spain for some days, after being away and busy with his task to bring so good weather to other parts of the world. We took this small sacrifice, having several weeks of very bad weather, well, good things have to be shared, so the sun too. During the weekend the others enjoyed a bit of snow and I can be just jealous happy for them. I was happy with our sun having it back. This good condition was also used to enjoy a great time with other hivers... more details can be seen in this post of mine.

It was finally sunny this Sunday

But the very next day, the rain came back. Clouds covered again our sky, and it seemed that we are back into some autumn mood. When it rains here, suddenly and in large quantities, sometimes small rivers overflow. I have a student who has been living in a rural part of a place for a few months now, more precisely next to a river that overflowed. Their access to the house was blocked, ie the river flooded the road and they could not leave the house for a while. She was supposed to have a class yesterday but sent me a message that they can't leave the house again. However, she said she was rehearsing a new song we started playing two weeks ago. Je Te Laisserai Des Mots.

That song she asked for, Je Te Laisserai Des Mots ( yeah, I just want to repeat the title of it once again to learn it in French) is a piece composed and performed by Patrick Watson, a Canadian singer and songwriter. That was a new name for me, but apparently, not for her. Sometimes the teachers can learn something new from the students.

So, it happened that I started to search for other songs by this Patrick, not just that one she wanted to play... and I was so positively surprised with his work! I liked what I heard! Do you want to hear also some of his songs? If yes, here comes a really tiny selection of some YouTube videos. For those who prefer Spotify, here is also a link to browse there.

One of the songs I liked immediately is Can't Stop Staring At The Sun. Both the music part and the video production and these dancers...

Do you feel a little broken? It is what he asks us. But why would I ask that? It is better if we listen to his peculiar voice and his beautiful piano playing. Just let yourself time to this one.

Now be honest and tell me, don't we all like to be lost with someone? Another song I liked very much, because of the simplicity of the piano and the whole ambience it gives. Plus the video is also pretty cool, I would like to be one of those riding the bike, with lights, at night...

So, what do you think about Patrick Watson's music? Does it give you some goosebumps? Does it have any impact on you? I think they are so beautiful ones, and all of them can awaken some feelings and memories in us. Well, the song I played in my video, the same my student who couldn't come to her lesson also started to practice, is nothing less nice. But I will not leave the original for that one, anyway, it is the most famous song from his opus so probably you all already heard it... And I play it just slightly faster, so not to be compared please :D

I have chosen to play it on this upright piano from my classroom on purpose. It has a bit older, rusty sound, as if I record it on my home digital piano, without background noise and just pure sound of the piano, it would not give me this natural feeling I wanted for this song.

For the lyrics of it, please check out this link. It is the translation of the song to English from French. And if you speak French and you think that the title I will leave you words is not the right one, please let me know. I also found a translation that says I will leave you notes... Anyway, the meaning can be understood in both versions.

The songs are so good to listen to, so touching too. Great post and great piano play!

Thank you @mezume

Yes, I agree, the songs by Patrick Watson are touching indeed :))

I'll listen one of these days as it's late now and I can wake up my sons :-)

That's ok, it is here now for the listeners :))
I think you will enjoy the songs 🎶

The song broken is good. For me it's quite soft and sad.

The song you played on the piano is really nice. Well done! My ears aren't good enough to pick up the

older, rusty sound

Lol. It just sounds like nice piano playing to me.

I like the song broken too because of its softness/sadness 🎶

Hahaha, thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the sound of this piano
It is what I listen to, every day...for hours 😆😆😆

I don't feel "broken" right now but listening to this artist's songs brought to my subconscious several feelings of having heard him before, maybe in the soundtrack of a movie or series? The truth is that I feel that his music is experimental and I wouldn't know how to recognize a musical genre, it has left me puzzled.

It is true that the music of this artist is wonderful, we never cease to be surprised by the number of talented artists around the world and that every day we continue to know, in this case we thank you for introducing us to Patrick, his music is different and enriching for us.

By the way, the sound of the white piano is not what we are used to but it was super good, in fact I liked it a lot, I guess the conditions this time were different but when a pianist is good (obviously I mean you) everything sounds good no matter what.

Hmm, maybe indeed like a soundtrack
We can not always determine the genre of music, maybe it is not even needed. We can just feel do we like it or not, regardless of the genre :)

If you like the work of this artist, I am already feeling great. I liked it too, though I have not known him before. Until that student of mine asked for this song to play. That was when I came across his name for the first time :)

Thank you so much for your words. My teacher used to say (when we complained that the piano is not good or similar) that it doesn't matter how the instrument is and that a good musician should know to play even well even if the piano is not that good.

"My teacher used to say that it doesn't matter how the instrument is and that a good musician should know to play even well even if the piano is not that good.". 👈 This is a great truth! 🙃

Yes, in most of the cases :))
not if the piano misses half of the keys or strings hahaha 😂

Once it happened that I played in one mini-concert. The place had just an upright piano and in the middle of my playing the pedal just went out from its place and it didn't work anymore. I played just a few pieces more that didn't require pedal but later had to say them a goodbye when I wanted to play Chopin 😜

Of course, there are levels of damage at which you can no longer play hahaha... and I suppose Chopin requires a minimum of piano operability. 🎹💥

It does require, indeed 😂

The title is right in English.
So... I listen to the videos as I had never heard of him, expecting to hear the "words" song
It was not there...
Then I came to the last video which although the only animated part of that video was two hands playing a piano 🎹😂 was to my ears by far the best, I did love the rusty sound of that piano and the pianist is kinda cool too ;)

Good, so the title is ok. Thanks :)
Sorry for not providing the song with its words :))
As I just play... maybe I should sing too, but no time left to learn singing after so much cleaning 😂

so, the song, with words is here :

enjoy :)

Yes I searched and listened after I heard yours...
YOu should sing too, I love your version better if I am honest @mipiano

Yay, thank you 😇

I think I will just stay with the piano 🎶🎶

hehe you chicken!

😂😂 could be the case

But didn't you say you like my version better... so why would I even bother with singing after this 😀?

hehe yes no comparison, I actually listened to yours and switched off what I was listening to!
That is a big compliment so yes you have got me, why bother lol

you have got me, why bother lol

easy peasy lemon squeezy, no singing needed for me :D

Thank you @tengolotodo 🎶 😇

Your music always hits differently and speaks directly to me.

I've replayed the Je Te Laisserai Des Mots twice...

The Sound of your Piano, your professionalism and perfect use of your techniques... they all make perfect sense and can put one in an estatic mood.

So lovely!!!

And by the way, the Sun is never at rest in this part of the world 🥺 The heat is so muuuuuuch!!!

Oh, I am glad you liked this piece :)
It is a nice one indeed, and well, it was not very difficult for me to perform it but it was fun :) 🎶
Thank you for your kind comment 😇

I've seen you delivering complex and difficult musical piece(s) with so much ease and professionalism.

I believe it takes time to get to this stage.

What a long way to go for me!!!

Yes, it takes time, well, it took 14 years of music education, but also later I didn't stop playing the piano 🎶

Thank you once again for your kindness :)

That's a long journey

I hope to get there someday

Thabk you for your time and to share from your bountiful wisdom, I'm grateful 🙏

It is a long journey but it was worth doing it. A life-transforming journey actually, as not just music is what I learned, but also persistence, patience, and a great passion for piano ( well, this last one was present earlier too 😆 )

Mister Sun was sent back to Spain for some days, after being away and busy with his task to bring so good weather to other parts of the world.

Apparently, Mister Sun dropped by in my country until yesterday when he left and it came pouring on us heavily. I'm sure he is on his way to Spain 😅😅😅

Sometimes the teachers can learn something new from the students.

I admire teachers like you, who are always open to learning more regardless of how much they already know.

So, what do you think about Patrick Watson's music?

I first heard about P. Watson from my dear friend who is into indie pop.

Does it give you some goosebumps?

Indeed it did especially with how cool and calm his music feels.
It has this dreamy vibe to them.

That Mister Sun is traveling freely where he wants. He comes and goes away, and over and over again. Hahaha 😂😂😂

Teachers and learning: Maybe not from my main subject just, but we are learning every day something, from the behavior of the students, their family background, how each of they react differently or where are the common patterns, so more this psychology stuff. But also they always come with a new song, as I don't really follow what is happening around in the world mainstream music scene so I learn from them 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

It has this dreamy vibe to them

Dreamy vibe? Love your description 🎶🎶

That Mister Sun is traveling freely where he wants. He comes and goes away, and over and over again. Hahaha 😂😂😂

At this point, he is living his best life.

I don't really follow what is happening around in the world mainstream music scene so I learn from them

That's definitely a plus 👌👌

Dreamy vibe? Love your description 🎶🎶

Thank you 😊😊
It's one of those music you listen to and just easily make you drift away or fall asleep😊😊

talking about falling asleep, maybe soon I should try that activity 💤💤💤

with or without music :)

talking about falling asleep, maybe soon I should try that activity 💤💤💤
with or without music :)

I'm about to drift to dream land.
See you there 😊😊

Am still around

coming and going away

but should go now indeed hahaha

see you there @peaq 👋 💤

I'm giving you a head start.
Catch me if you can 😅😅😅

😂
