Last week I came up with a sick title, or so I thought it sounded really Dali to me. Super surreal bro, but that is what I have more often than not, liking things nobody else likes....like Britt Pop.
No Britts today, or at least no poppy ones. Today I will go back to my first ever 2-day festival...and how I created an earthquake.
I still hope I donΒ΄t do what they told me, even though I work an office job for the time being. That is to pay for the years I did not do what they told me.
Because I was there...

Unfortunately, we jumped so hard that the footage became useless but they were there in 1993 as well, of course, it wasn't as crazy as the 1994 Jump Around, but it gives a nice impression:

These guys brought such a new sound we had to jump our freaking heads off, but.... there were these other guys and watch that sound, because wanna see a joke check the Demagogue.
Well, I am no gonna point fingers but they released this song in 1994 while RATM did their killing in 1993....just saying.This 1994 Festival was my first big 2-day festival ever and if I look at the bands it did have all the bands I loved back then.
Because next to these two crossover bands there was a band that I Adore more than most. And the Adore is of course a reference to Smashing Bumpkins who also played the festival in 1994 and were as disappointing as ever.
The band I adore is Irish af and has a sound that is so straightforward it was killing me and going nowhere.
Did I get lucky that year that this festival had all the awesome bands or was it that we just had so few it was an easy pick.
Because those guys from two weeks back were also playing there, yup Soul Asylum but I think we had enough of that by now.
Something I still can not enough of were these guys Leveling the Land(graaf):
I did not do what they told me and I did the One Way My Own Way thingy and still I survived the Β΄90s barely but I survived.
Wanna know why, because I would never do a drug called after a part of my own ass. ItΒ΄s that simple.
But luckily Morphine had no butt reference and they were the biggest surprise. I really wondered how they would pull this off but it was Buena Buena Buena:
Now trying to remember my first festival I realize one thing.
Back then I wanted to see all those great bands I loved, and of which I knew at least 3 or more songs.
While now, I prefer to visit those bands I never heard of to let myself be pleasantly surprised.
Other than that I donΒ΄t think I changed at all....uhuπ
But this festival did or at least that is what it feels like when I compare the line-up.
Thirty years ago I knew all those bands, and I liked most of them. Now in 2024 I know more than half, as lie 52% of the bands. Of the ones I do know I probably like Ilse best but I really donΒ΄t have to see her at a festival.
Same goes for Ed, and come on Limp Bizkit they were kinda fun in the Β΄90s but now Fred is in it for the money.
Now I checked those I did not know, because at my age I might be missing out on something amazing.
What a shitshow... Henry Moodie was the absolute worst I wouldn't want to see that thing live if they paid me.
Greta was probably the best together with Gunmoll but seriously I had to listen to so much shit to get there....
What else did change?
Well I think nobody is using flippoΒ΄s anymore, and it was such a hot item back then in the Netherlands. Everybody ate multiple bags of chips per day just to get those freaking flippos.

And damn that guy just reminded me about the gift I never got TMNT OOZE.
I must have been too old for that ooze, but secretly I wanted to ooze my hands in there and.....no not that....just wanted to play and feel that slime drip from my hands....π
Anyway, I still like to play and feel slime dripping from my hands but letΒ΄s not get into that I think we had enough fun for one week.
LetΒ΄s see what memories I can bring back next week, because this trying to remember stuff is hard work. But soooo worth it. Maybe one day I actually remember all the things I did in the Β΄90s and I bet you....
