Thank the G man itΒ΄s Friday!
And I plan to keep it short today.

You know that I often fail, but probably not this time.

Musically I have been going back to my roots a bit lately, picking up tunes I have not played for ages.

Maybe itΒ΄s because of these crazy #NinetiesFridays, or maybe itΒ΄s because I finally donΒ΄t care that someone else long ago stained these songs by liking them.

Most logically I am just getting old and nostalgic.

Now when checking the dates most of them are early 00Β΄s or even a little later like Keane, Killers, and Snow Patrol.

This makes sense as I buried those days, at least musically. But Dear Reader, times they are changing.

I am dusting off some tunes I can finally gladly play again, while at the same time is making me come across stuff I would never listen to voluntarily.

How strange is that?

For example, I really do not feel like playing Pearl Jam while I played this album:

image.png

Daily for a year or longer... I am totally sick of them now.

It did not happen to all the louder shit from back then, last weekend I was happily singing along with this Ugly classic:

image.png

I played that whole album smiling, and singing and yes you should Love their River Runs Red album, but I am not Colder than ever, I prefer to pretend.

Now another band that I probably would not play anymore is Therapy? I tried it for this post but I guess, I do not need it anymore, but then again when I looked up this album

image.png

It did not taste as bad as Pearl Jam, but I had to admit tastewise it was going nowhere:

Are you starting to get the point, let me do another. This album was stuck in my CD player for as long as I can remember (same applies to the next one, together they must have occupied my cg player for years)

image.png

Now I have to go and stop myself from playing that absolutely awesome song from that first album... that one song I still love to play today and listen to the rest.

And to be honest that album is still very nice, I love how they treat the service staff btw:

Okay, for those of you who did not remember that all-time classic tune from Throwing Copper Eat Your Heart Out:

That other one, can you guess the other one, you know a bit what I liked back then....

Would you have guessed that for over a year I fell asleep listening to this guy:

image.png

Damn that album, I must have brainwashed myself so badly, because I still love every single song, or at least all I liked back then...and nothing really changed I mean we even did not put another man on the moon.

I definitely would play this album again.

Another Album that comes to mind is this one:

image.png

And when I listened to the Album, I still liked it but all those hits, I had too much of those if I would add a single song to my playlist it would be this one.

But who I have been playing a lot lately is this girl:

image.png

This Album was so tainted by my past that I did not touch it for decades.

Now I love every single song, and I have to say Thank You to myself for rediscovering this absolute Gem again.

I really canΒ΄t get enough of this album after having unconsciously totally blocked it, but I am glad she is Here With Me Again

Do we have time for one more Nineties comeback, I tipped her last week by saying her Album Debut, is not her debut but that she released her first solo album at the age of 11.

image.png

Now I think itΒ΄s Human Behavior to forget how amazing some albums were, letΒ΄s hope itΒ΄s also human behavior to rediscover these albums 30 years later:

I just added this one to my latest Spotify playlist, which also includes Dido and Jewel

And well, while I was at it I thought I had to add this classic as well, I mean that little Sugarcube really nailed the NIneties.

Alright, I am at 700 words, which gives me room for a bit more memories, and other tainted musicians. I mentioned her already a second or so ago.

Oh, how did she love that Christmas Album, well I did not give a flying fart about Xmas till she made me, and I am not too sad to not have decorated the house last year.

But I would never voluntarily play that album, instead, I would dust off this disc:

image.png

Such a perfectly simple piece of pure music..

Now I will not play that tear-jerking Foolish Girl song, at least not in its original format...

it took me some time to find it but I love this little dub

Now there is one more Nineties Album I used to play, now I still play these guys. And I think I never stop because they are my Heroine.

Dog Man Star oh sweet Suede, London Suede for some of you, itΒ΄s an acquired taste I am sure but I love it almost as much as cheese.

image.png

Overdosed on that London Sound.....

Yes this album never left my mind, and I still love to play it, no clue what makes an album stay with you till the grave, and others that were with you day and night just be forgotten.

I simply do not get what makes that difference.

All the albums I listed I used to love like crazy, nowadays Pearl Jam, REM, Therapy, Seal, and even Live would not make the cut.

While LOA, Suede, Dido, Jewel, and even Bjork feel like coming home.

As I am curious as Fuck and do not like to pay a shrink to answer this question I asked someone cheap, and that someone actually came up with a very decent answer.

Looking at the artists you don't like (Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Therapy?, Seal, and Live) versus the ones you do like (Life of Agony, Jewel, Dido, Suede, and BjΓΆrk), I can see a pattern based on sound, emotion, and artistic approach.

That sounds promising!

But I promised to keep it short, so I guess you gotta wait till next week to find out what music I should listen to and how much of that is still Nineties!

#NinetiesFriday was brought to you by My Nineties Rant

WTF do I do on #NinetiesFriday?
Well, don't do what I do because that would be copy/pasta!

But some ideas are music, movies, television, sports, or really anything Nineties related.

I assume movie, TV, or music topic reviews or talk will be most common, but you could also talk about a sports memory or something else.

Make sure to use: #NinetiesFriday and post or cross-post in the Nineties Friday Community

Thank Goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!

These are beautiful and I mean absolutely beautiful songs. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome stuff here. Jewel is just straight hot. There is no other way to describe it. I'm sure I have told you a million times how I got to see her do an acoustic show in a small venue. It was great. She even played Race Car Driver or whatever it is called which is one of her lesser know crowd favorite. I love Suede too. REM, that album and Out of Time were definitely on repeat in my disc changer. Night Swimming might be one of the most perfect songs ever in my opinion. Have you checked out Holly Humberstone?

Holly Humberstone?
It did not ring a bell till I found that Anti Christ song, she is definitely going on my chill weekend playlist. I am so happy that I can listen to Jewel again, I bought that first album and still its my fav and I am so glad also been listening to Dido again so I think Holly will be a great addition, have a great a weekend!

Thanks, you have an awesome weekend too!

Wow, these are the real great artists of those time. I could remember a few names back then.
