Making Flying Jellyfish Video

in #hive-1932122 years ago

This post features the video editing process involved with making jellyfish fly in the sky.

With the help of iMovie, I manage to only use two projects.

Less projects and multiple exports placed into one project. This was my method. This instead of creating a new project for every export. Jelly Fish In The Sky was a large project. The video is almost 11 minutes long at the end of this draft process. It was too long. After 11 minutes, the export process would fail. Maybe a bug. Maybe something got corrupted, or maybe it was just too long with too much data. The final version is about seven or eight minutes.

By the time I add watermarks and music and other logistical information, there might be three projects. All these projects take up space. Thankfully, I can afford the space for now.

Old Footage

Something about using old footage feels very satisfying. It’s nice to know collecting spontaneous small video portraits was not in vain.

I'm missing one clip in this part of the BTS post. Labeling or tagging footage is essential if you want to stay organized. The consequence is infinite scrolling and scanning with your eyes. After a while it becomes a deterrent. Some of the sky footage is missing from this little post explanation and I’m not sure if I’m gonna make the effort to find it. By now, I should be more organized.

Look, 37595 images and videos.
That's crazy, right?
How much do you have in your camera phone's gallery?

"Happiness is utilizing old random footage to serve a project’s goals."

Project View

Here again, iMove saves rhe day. The blending/overlay features are my favorite. Having this video editing app, and the footage all in one place is extremely convenient.

More Is Not Always Better

As I progressed through this process, I found the early exports more satisfying. Simply one or two jellyfish might be a little bit more satisfying. Maybe that’s because it starts to get a little bit too blurry after the other two or three jellyfish jump in.

What do you think?

Here’s one Jellyfish in a GIF:

Comparing the GIF to the actual video might not be the best idea, but here’s another.

What do you think about three or four Jellyfish?

Scary, chaotic, maybe simplistic is the way to go? Maybe I’ll post multiple versions of the video.

Somehow, I managed to squeeze nearly 8 minutes out of three clips that might have only equated to 33 minutes.

Water Mark

I wish I could consider the video done. The final step will be adding watermarks and other logistical text/information.

I wish it wasn’t necessary to protect creativity. I wish I didn’t have to take extra steps to prevent plagiarism. I like this video without all that stuff.

Hopefully watermarks and logistic info won’t screw it up and create a more convoluted video. Discrete placement will be my goal. It’s a Tetrahedroseph video, but I’ll avoid the traditional TV frame overlays and interruptions.

😎😉💪 so cool how u did that!

Talent!

Are use the blending technique, like green screen. iMovie has a cool green screen feature. The feature let you choose almost any color to remove, not just green. Fortunately, for me, the jellyfish were surrounded by a deep blueish green color. When I put the jellyfish footage on top of sunset footage, the bluish green color nearly disappears completely.

😉👍
