Hello, Hivers and Music lovers!
I'm still in Colombia at the moment, so for my first participation this year in the #threetunetuesday initiated by @ablaze I'm going to share music from one of the Colombian bands I've recently discovered.
The band is called Puerto Candelaria and although it was formed in 2000 in Medellin, I had never heard of them until a few weeks ago. The leader and producer of the band is a musician called Juancho Valencia. Their musical genre is a mix of rhythms ranging from Cumbia, Rock, Ska, Chucu Chucu, to Jazz.
Since I first heard them a few weeks ago I have been looking for more of their songs to listen to. And today I bring you a selection of the tunes I have liked the most so far.
But before I get into the tunes, let me give you a little background if you are new to Hive and aren't familiar with #threetunetuesday. In the words of @ablaze:
The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.
You can find out more at ablaze's post with his recommendations for this week the #190.
Don't forget to support @ablaze's and if you would like to become a sponsor of #ttt give him a shout out.
And now without further ado, let's go with my tunes for this week.
Tune 1 - Puerto Candelaria - Yo Me Llamo Cumbia
This song is named after the album that earned the group a Latin Grammy in 2019 for Best Cumbia Album.
There is no doubt that the song Yo Me Llamo Cumbia has a very catchy rhythm, don't you think?
Tune 2 - Puerto Candelaria - Amor y Deudas
Amor y Deudas is one of the band's big hits.
It was released in 2014. I love it, plus it features Colombian singer Catalina Garcia, lead singer of the band Monsieur Perine, a Colombian group that I like very much. Some time ago I share some tunes by this band in Monsieur Periné for this #ttt from Bogotá.
Tune 3 - Puerto Candelaria - Amor Fingido
This song stuck with me from the first time I heard it. Amor Fingido is from the year 2019 from the album Cinema Trópico in which a Colombian singer called Maga la Maga is the vocalist of the band. She was later replaced by the current vocalist Catalina Calle.
Bonus Tune - Puerto Candelaria - Cumbia Rebelde
And since the title of this post refers to cumbia, how not to include the song Cumbia Rebelde from 2011. In which Puerto Candelaria gives a modern sound to the traditional rhythm of Colombian cumbia.
So if you prefer to dance to the rhythm of a cumbia, this is the song for you.
Have you ever listened to Puerto Candelaria before?
If you liked the songs, which one did you like the most? Tell me in the comments.
Thank you very much for reading!
Enjoy the music, and enjoy life!
