Watching and listening to live instrumental music can be quite refreshing for people after a long day at work.
Playing my saxophone live at gigs has always been an avenue for me to explore music and improvisation on various levels.
I used to play predominantly at themed dinners and Corporate events, because my kind of music always brought a classic or jazzy feel to the event.
The genres I play span from pure jazz to afrobeat, folk music, salsa, jazz in the various modes, a little hip hop and musicals.
I didn't play so many gigs in recent years because of medical school. But I still managed to pull out time for them.
More recently though, since the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, I have had less gigs to play at.
Most of the time I play as a one-man performer with my pre-made backtracks or I go along with @peulzcraft, a skillful keyboardist and producer who understood my style.
Here, I was recently invited for a Wednesday jazz night at a popular Cafe in Ibadan city - Café 24.
I was given 3 straight hours to perform and I performed jazz, soul and hiphop all through, nonstop.
The performance was well received, though the audience wasn't much (probably due to COVID).
The video shows snippets from music I performed.
Enjoy it!
