I am going to put the link of the video at the beginning and at the end, to make sure that you can't miss it 🤣

On the picture above, is me on the 21st of March attempting the song by Brian Mcknight called "Love of My Life".

It's just a nightmare of a song to sing, and on that day, I was a little sick, a little tired, and didn't notice how out of tune and unmotivated I sounded.
I uploaded on Youtube the next day, only to really quick wake the f*ck up and delete the upload, before too many people watched that disaster.

In my head, that was the end of it, I would never try to sing this song ever again, it was a bad idea in the first place, "What were you thinking Ed?".

But then some time passed, and we're now almost a month later, I am a bit more relaxed, and I thought, "Let's try this again".

I wasn't really convinced, I didn't even set up the microphone, that's how unsure I was.

But now, I have to admit that I kept in mind what @leaky20 said a few weeks ago, I am paraphrasing, but he said something like "What matters is that you enjoyed the process", he was speaking about my last music video I've released called "Mad World".

So I tried to enjoy the process and am now happy with the result. It's really a song for singers, one to showcase your skills, you'll find a lot of good renditions of this song out there, I had to change the key because the original is for a tenor, and I am barytone.

Today it's raining, a lot! Everytime it's raining for a few days, it screws up my mood big time. I have a very sensitive pineal gland, you see. 😁
It messes up with my circadian rhythm, and I become all bluesy and moody like today.
Unknowingly, it was probably the perfect day to make some music, I completely forgot how freaking powerful music can be, healing all the wounds, mending all the scars, and nourishing the soul.

Back to the song, it's a really difficult one to sing. If you wanna go check out the original, it's really full of "Riffs and Runs", which are little vocal technical phrases that you find in Gospel and Rnb.

Singing is very much like fighting, I discovered that lately! You need to be relaxed, but firm, and find the right amount of tension when you strike.
The same goes with reaching notes, you need the right approach before landing a hard "run" or "riff".

Anyway, check Brian Mcknight runs and riffs, what a genius:

You don't have to watch the entire 15 minutes haha, just watch a few riffs and you'll get my point. Eventually, it also gets on my nerve haha, just too many notes and melismas.

So, it might be a little "too much" for some, I guess it's the equivalent of "guitar shredding" if you are familiar with this term, guys like Joe Satriani are known to show their technical skills & prowesses.

Anyway, this song "Love of My Life", I remember the first time I heard it on the radio. I was mesmerized by it. I remember exactly what my bedroom looked like, the bed next to the window, me smoking cigarettes at night when everyone was asleep.

I use to let the radio on all night long (something that my son doe too today!!!) and the first time I heard it I was semi-conscious, the vocal runs woke me up.

I couldn't believe that a falsetto could be that high, especially for a male singer. Ah, it was a different time, Rnb was huge in the 90s and at the beginning of the millennium.

Love Of My Life

First, first time I looked into your eyes
I saw heaven, oh, heaven in your eyes
Everything I did before you, wasn't worth my while
It should've been you all the time
I'll do anything, and everything to please you
You know how much I need you
You're always, always, on my mind
You're more than wonderful
More than amazing
Irreplaceable, love, love, of my life
You're so incredible, here in these arms tonight
The irreplaceable, love, love, of my life
Always, seems like reality
Forever, don't seem so far away
All I wanna do, all I wanna feel, all I wanna be is close to you
Everyday, is my lucky day
All I wanna do, is love you
I place no one above you
I'll tell you why
You're more than wonderful
More than amazing
The irreplaceable, love, love, of my life
You're so incredible, here in these arms tonight
The irreplaceable, love, love, of my life
Baby you know, you know you're my one and only
(All I wanna do is be together)
Sugar you know, I'll never leave you lonely
In your eyes, in your eyes I see forever
Ah, oh, oh, oh
h, oh, oh
You're more than wonderful
More than amazing
The irreplaceable, love, love, of my life
You're so incredible, here in these arms tonight
The irreplaceable, love, love, of my life

The Hive Gamification Proposal

The only thing that I know about music is that I love listening to it, almost all genres. When you talk about riffs and runs I had no idea what you meant. Listening to your version of Love of My Life was most enjoyable but I still didn't understand what was meant by those terms.
I did a little research on riffs and runs and after understanding these concepts I went back and listened to you doing your thing with Love of My Life.

You riffed and runed the heck out of this song. I know runed ain't a word but who gives a s--t.

Thanks for even taking the time to understand what the heck I was rambling about!

I totally take the word "runed"! Wonderful to see you here!

Hahaha, I played the two at the same time (though the second one starting at almost minute 3... ) so now two of you are performing this song... in canon. 😂

What a difficult song to perform, I hear it. Though I am taking my hat off, you did an excellent cover, as you always do. But I hear you, I mean uploading a video on YouTub and deleting it? I am not sure if the day will arrive when we will be fully satisfied with the performance we do. But indeed, it's enjoying the process...

Singing is very much like fighting, I discovered that lately! You need to be relaxed, but firm, and find the right amount of tension when you strike.

The observation of how singing should be, relaxed but firm, with the right amount of tension at the right moment. It can be said for many other things too, add to it the gentle touch, the letting the sound resonate, listening back to you, the action, the feeling. Playing an instrument or singing is much more than it sounds at first ;) 🎶

Hugs to that lonely wolf on the field 😎

Haha this is hilarious...

Playing an instrument or singing is much more than it sounds at first ;) 🎶

I now realize that it could be applied for more skills, finding that level of relaxation, and tension. With it comes what we call "the flow state". I don't know if you've heard of that term before.

The wolf is hugging back! Sometimes I feel that you find all the excuses in the world to talk to my dog haha.

Sometimes I feel that you find all the excuses in the world to talk to my dog haha.

😂

I talk to you too 😜
