The song is one of the major hits of the late rapper, in the song he talks about the mental and emotional trauma/torture which a young a adult suffers after experiencing a break up. In the song, the late rapper (Juice WRLD) explains this to be a state of lucid dreaming, which is a state where a person is aware they're dreaming and is completely feeling the dream at a maximum effects as though it's real.
The song starts with the rapper humming while a female voice in the background is speaking loudly as though in an argument, which I suppose is the argument that led to the break up. The rapper immediately starts the chorus after she's done speaking. In the chorus the rapper let's the listeners into his distorted mind, he speaks of sleep paralysis and sleep depravity which makes him have lucid dreams and see things. He explains how he sees her shadow in his room, which she's not physically present in, from what he says, he obviously still loves her and wants her back. But considering the facts that he can't help it, he just finds himself having hallucinations. The chorus was repeated a total of four (4) times, twice at the intro and twice at the outro.
The other verses of the song speaks of how much damage the breakup has done to him. He explains how he takes pills to help with the pain and hallucinations, he further explains that she was his everything and he even had thoughts of marriage. He didn't want it to end. At mid point of the song the mood changes to may seem as regrets, the rapper explains that he should have listened to his friends and who prolly had advised end it in the past but he (Juice WRLD) wanted the relationship to last so he didn't listen to them. The song ended in the same sad tone as it began with.
Final Opinion/ Why I Like The Song
I really don't Know why I like the song but I'm generally a fan of Juice WRLD songs, and this particular one may have been a game changer, considering how much it affected his career and his audience. I love the sad tone and I think the lyrics' classic, the beat type is also top notch the whole blend is something you wouldn't want to miss if you're a fan of emo-trap or dart music. For better experience I think it's better to listen with amplified speakers or a good earphone.
My overall rating: 9/10
