MUSIC: Three Tune Tuesday 122 - 3 Songs on the Theme of “Fire of Love!” (Hive Open Mic Week 181)

in #hive-193816last year

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing to you from a small coastal village about 90 minutes from Cape Town in South Africa! As I write this (hotspotting off my friend’s MTN phone because my service provider Vodacom is not working!), I am actually still trapped here in this village because both roads back to Cape Town are closed because of damage from a massive storm (mudslides in one direction, and a bridge issue in the other!) You can read more about it here: https://ecency.com/hive-141964/@jasperdick/surfing-a-bodyboard-session-during

This is my 57th week in a row contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 122 overall!

My new pattern for how I will be contributing to TTT is to take the Hive Open Mic challenge Theme of the Week and give suggestions on how I would tackle it!

For those of you who are not familiar, the Hive Open Mic is a weekly challenge on the Hive Open Mic community for anybody who loves to sing. You don’t even need to play an instrument, a backing track or a cappella is also fine as far as I can tell!

Different artists are given the chance to choose a “Theme of the Week” that the posts should be based on. Often it can be difficult for people to think about easy songs that might fit that theme… so let me see if I can be of any assistance to the people who still might not know what to try by the time Tuesday comes around!

All right! Let’s get cracking!

Here is the post inviting everyone to participate in this week’s Hive Open Mic (Week 181):

As you can see, it was the turn of @ljtorres2 to pick a theme, and this week the theme is “Fire of Love”!

“Fire of Love”? Ouch! That sounds painful! You should probably go and see a doctor about that?

Just kidding – that just sounds like we must find love songs that clearly indicate burning passion and desire.

The first thing that came to my mind is a song that literally has the lyrics “Only you can cool my desire Oh, oh, oh, I'm on fire”. I’m talking about “I’m on Fire” by Bruce Springsteen, which is actually pretty creepy sounding if you listen carefully to the lyrics! However, the music sounds beautiful, has a fairly easy chord structure to learn, and is a lot of fun to try the high notes at the end!

In retrospect, an even more obvious choice would be “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash! This song structure has only three chords, and you can have fun trying to impersonate Johnny Cash’s famously deep vocal tone!

Another pretty obvious choice is “Light my Fire” by the Doors, which a very famous song. There are a few more chords in this one than the others, especially if you’re going to bother with the introduction part, but I know that there are some great musicians on HIVE!

So, which of these three great songs am I going to tackle for this week? I’m not sure yet – let’s see what feels right on the day!

So that's week 122 done and dusted! I hope that gave some people some ideas on how to tackle the Hive Open Mic Challenge this week? Perhaps I’ve even inspired one or two new people to give it a try? Please let me know! @clairemobey, when are we going to see an entry from you?

Hahaha 😅 man what a great analysis you bring us. I really liked how you expressed your opinion on the chosen theme. Yeah dude, I flew high by choosing the theme hahahahahahaha but don't worry, I know you will find a song for this theme. Success, you still have time to think of a good song. Best regards.

All three totally different, recognized coming from different collections where friends spring to mind who enjoyed what! Your choice as to which you decide!
