Music Monday | Pump it!

Feeling hyped up? Yes it is that time again. Time to me sure you are the sharpest of your game for whatever reason. I have some big stuff coming up and although I tend to be at most chilled heading towards somewhere, I know from myself that it is also good sometimes to hype yourself up for a bit.

There is a reason why in sports in warming up people often do that to the same music. The reach rhythm and often the set of warm up leads to a sort of climax where you just know you are ready to rumble.

You have seen the boxers (or darters) run into the ring with their favorite songs right? It feels like this is ultimate moment of the playlist where it is all comes together and that would be the moment where you are the sharpest of your game.

Our monkey brain feels a bit stupid on that behalf. We are only programmed to have the option that we know. So if the monkey needs to be activated by putting on music, there is a decent chance that this will also work the next time.

Time to take a look at what works on getting pumped!

2 Unlimited - Get ready for this

Talk about the classics of classics if you ask me. Surely you know this one, especially if you are from the Netherlands of the United Kingdom. But a lot of people will not know that there are vocals in there, because in a lot of places in the world this was released without vocals. If you ask me, the vocals are an addition to the song, but this might be because I grew up with the song like this.

Maybe this one came to mind because of this documentary that was released on Dutch televsion on how the success of 2 unlimited started. I enjoyed the docu a lot and also thought about how often I have this song still dropping by at epic volume to make sure I arrive somewhere at full sharpness.

DJ Snake - Turn Down for what

Okay this was for sure one that you should never listen entirely to the end. The song keeps dying out more and more towards the end, but it is about the beginning. People getting their hands in the air, stepping on to that gas pedal just a bit more, the energy turning a bit more grim.

If you would need me to play a sport match after this one, get ready to be finished off entirely. Maybe that is also key for the pump it song before getting ready to rumble, there needs to be a bit of rage in there. A bit of anger to turn the mind right. (Or is this just me?)

DJ Khaled - All I do is win

This one is a bit in the same category as the previous one. Imagine this is big fat stadium going bezerk with this in the background. The versus really suck of this song but in a stadium I would imagine cheerleaders stealing the show versus the raps no one cares about.

But the chorus...That is what it is about. 'everybody hands go UP! And they stay there' I could already see myself scoring the winning point. Maybe we need a blend of DJ Snake and DJ Khaled together to get the perfect pump it song.

Turnstyle - Blackout

This would not be one for the sports match for me, but more one for getting somewhere on time. A decent tempo that works fantastic while driving. Okay, maybe just maybe you might have caught me somewhere pumping at the point say around 1.03 and especially after the break where the 'ow yeaaaaah'at 1.45 comes in, with the proper break down afterwards.

This post was actually all about finding the perfect playlist for me on my way towards my exams, to reach there hyped and sharp. Now I know what to play on my way, thanks for listening Hive ;)
