Plaid
"Double Figure"
2001

Plaid is a great electronic duo from London that has been steadily releasing albums since 1991 and have been on the Warp Records roster since 1997. I have a handful of their records, and am always delighted to pick one up in the dollar bin! They have that futuristic. Forward thinking sound that sets them apart from most other electronic beat-based groups. I kinda assume these guys must have had a friendly competition with Autechre for championing weirdo techno!

Kid Loco
"DJ-Kicks"
1999

DJ Kicks is a series of DJ mix albums from the K7 record label, which were released steadily from 1995 to 2008, although they do still put out many newer releases. I have a few in this series I like, notably the Four Tet mix, and it is cool to see different artists take on producing a mixtape-it's not always just DJ's doing these albums, either. This Kid Loco mix traverses some ethereal beats and total relaxing party vibes.

Shizuo
Shizuo vs Shizor
1997

Here is an interesting project from an artist that is no longer with us, having passed in 2011. This release was on the Digital Hardcore Recordings label(Atari Teenage Riot) distributed through the (Beastie Boys) Grand Royal label-a label that was very "hit or miss.". The record is filled with heavy and fuzzy beats, which should be no surprise to anyone who knows anything about Atari Teenage Riot-which is the most 90s band I can think of 😂. I think it was a good listen, if you can get into that fuzzy breakcore sound-definitely something unique back in the late 90s!

The London Funk Allstars
"Flesh Eating Disco Zombies Versus The Bionic Hookers From Mars"
1996

This is an early breakbeat and trip hop group on the Ninja Tune label, one I can only assume is from London, the City in Madison County, Ohio- in the United States. If, for some odd reason you think they're from a different London city, please leave me a comment!

Thanks for reading, I hope you liked my post!
