Episode 4 of the Radio Liquorice podcast -- bringing you ALL the licks -- is now published on Podomatic.
The show started during winter lockdown of 2020/2021, as a way to collaborate with fellow jammers and open mikers in the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire area after we were suddenly confined to our homes in the early days of the pandemic, before we all got vaccinated.
The format is three songs per person, played out in three 'rounds', one song at a time, instead of having clusters of three songs by the same person all the way through. The show has stayed popular even though we are all meeting up in person now, to jam and perform. Some people have told me they enjoy the challenge of producing good recordings, and many are producing multitrack recordings of good quality. Others just like hearing their work on the "radio" and getting support from friends and fellow musicians.
This month's episode features recordings from the usual suspects, including Hive members @steevc, @purplesinger, @todayslight, @daniellemurray and @anna-newkey. It also includes a new Hive guest spot, which was very successfully filled this month by @basilmarples and @sazzler -- we really enjoyed hearing their recordings made in their own studio.
Some people get together online to listen when I premiere the show on YouTube, but others have been downloading it later and listening in the car. Personally, I like having it playing in the background when I'm pottering around in the mornings drinking my coffee. That's the beauty of "radio"!
