Hope you all having a great Tuesday. Today, I want to share three songs from Dept for three tune Tuesday. Dept is a singer and producer. He specializes in K-indie music so his song isn't mainstream or on the radio or anything. The cool part is that his songs are in English so you should be able to follow along with the song! He's a gem that I found recently and I hope you like at least one of the songs I shared!
#1. Umbrella - Dept(뎁트) Feat. Ashley Alisha, Julian Rose
The first song I want to share is Umbrella. It's the first song that came across to me on YouTube before I found some of his other songs on Spotify. I love the slow, gentle music matched with the girl vocals and the low pitch from the guy vocals. I also find the chorus to be super catchy! I believe the song is about looking back at a memory when it was raining. The girl shared an umbrella with the guy she liked. There's also a possibility that the umbrella could be figurative for how the guy shelters the girl from things in life like how an umbrella protects people from the rain. This way the girl felt safe and secure and she's slowly falling in love.
#2. Winter Blossom - Dept(뎁트) Feat. Ashley Alisha, nobody likes you pat
Winter Blossoms is the most played song on Spotify. This is another chill love song. I love the lyrics in this song! I like the incorporation of the seasons in the song. In the song, it mentions that it's winter time but it feels like spring. It feels like spring because the person is in love. Spring is when the flowers bloom and the weather is a bit warmer. The song is using that to creatively describe that feeling of the situation.
#3. Van Gogh - Dept(뎁트) Feat. Ashley Alisha
Personally, this last song is my favorite. It's the most viewed song on his YouTube. I find the lyrics of the song to be super deep and it makes sense once you think about it. I thought the title was creative since he never directly mentioned Van Gogh in the song. The song mentions that the guy is looking at self-portraits. This could be the guy reflecting on himself or on his artwork. The guy sits at a cafe to think about it and thinks about whether or not he should continue with his creativeness. This is supported by the lyrics "And every piece that I've been painting, Should I throw them all away?". I guess this song could be about his journey as a music producer. He struggled making it as the music industry is tough to make money. I think a bit of it has to do with Van Gogh as well because Van Gogh used art as a way to cope with his depression. Maybe I am overthinking it all. What are your thoughts on this?
Thank You
If you made it to the end, thank you so much for reading and listening. What do you think of Dept? Do you vibe with the songs as well?
Please don't be afraid to share your three songs every Tuesday! Share the music share the love.
