I played pickleball again last night. It seems like I will be playing every Monday night. Anyways, I want to cover three songs by William Black today. That's how I got the title of this post because he's actually white. I'm not racist or anything; it's just to have a catchy title for this post. William Black specializes in DJing and creating his own beats. According to his YouTube channel his "songs touch on important topics including depression, addiction, love and loss". I don't think he sings though but I could be wrong. Do let me know in the comments if he does actually sing because so far most of his songs seems like he just produces the music.
#1. Back To U - William Black & SLANDER
I wanted to start off with Back To U. I love the uplifting beat in this song and the lyrics are actually meaningful. I love the figurative language used in the lyrics. The song is about someone that has feelings for another person. They are possibly afraid of the relationship not working out hence the "And maybe I've been hiding from what I'm afraid of". In the song, the person finally musters the courage to go for it hence the lyrics "So maybe I should put my heart out on the table And fuck it if it breaks". They finally came to this conclusion since they can't seem to get away from the person; this is based off the lyrics "I'm always running but my feet lead back to you". In a sense, this could mean that the person doesn't want to accept that they like the person which is why they are trying to run away from them. The body doesn't lie which is why the feet is walkign back to the person.
#2. Deep End - William Black
I love the message in this song. This song is super deep and I feel it's really relatable to most people. Everyone goes through a bad time in their life and this song kind of paints that picture. This person is depressed and isolates themself from the world. Low key though they want help and hopes that someone out there can help them. They want someone to pull them out of the "deep end". I believe it's figurative language for someone that is drowning. There's people that don't know how to swim and they are drowning in that deep end of the pool.
#3. Deep Blue - William Black ft Monika Santucci
I like all three songs and this one was just a tad better since I like to save the best for last. I think the beat drop is super sick in this song. I also love the vocals from Monika. If I'm not wrong, this song is about falling in love. The person is completely drowned by love which can be interpreted from the title of the song and lyrics "I'm lost inside your deep blue".
Thank You
If you made it to the end, thank you so much for reading and listening. Do you like EDM style of music if yes what do you think of William Black?
