Little Things Matter

Back in the day, I would always want lots of things. I would want a new shoe, a new bag, new clothes. I would want something new for every occasion I had to attend. As a child, my parents would always let us know that being contented is the key to living a comfortable life. Honestly, I really can’t understand how I deviated from that upbringing. I would always want more things in my closet.

To me, those things were what made me happy. If someone would ask me a few years ago what is one thing that would make me extremely happy I would say going shopping and getting new clothes. At a point, my bags and wardrobe couldn’t contain my clothes and whenever I tried to arrange my belongings I always needed each available item.

When I embraced minimalism, I got to realize that the Little things matter the most. That has been the most valuable lesson that I have come to learn. Being a minimalist has helped me understand that there is happiness in the little things of life. The little moments you get to spend with family can be the most valuable feeling one can get. A simple walk in the park. Your morning coffee. Being nice. These are all little things that could bring happiness.

Minimalism has encouraged me to focus on what truly matters in life, things that would help make you comfortable and contented. These little things could make you feel happy in whatever thing you choose to do. These past few days have been so hectic for me. I had a series of examinations to write and a few to come. It has been difficult to combine this with writing and also designing. So I could say that in the little free time I had, I just had to do something exciting.

I knew I wasn’t going shopping because I was no longer that girl who loved the extravagant lifestyle. I just needed a break from my whole work and then I had to search myself and try to discover what would make a minimalist girl happy. That was when I realized that to me the little things matter the most. I had to spend time with family and since it’s the festive period, everyone is back home, and it’s a full house.

The few times I took away from work and studying, I spent it with my family and honestly, I enjoyed every bit of it. We spoke and teased each other. It was a great feeling. A time spent with family even if it’s a short time, could make life worthwhile. The shift in perspective can lead to greater happiness and contentment, as it helps you realize that it’s often the small moment that makes life meaningful. After the time I spent with my family, I felt better and went back to work.

Minimalism has helped me realize that no matter how stressful life is, you can always make time for little things. Things that could help one stay focused and happy. To me, my motto has always been “Little things matter”. The more you embrace it the better life gets for you.

Thank you

There's this overwhelming feeling that comes with more. I don't know if it's just me o but going for less sure has made me feel lighter. It's really about what we need and not what we want.

You are right girl☺️
