In this age of social media, the desire to look good stylish, chic, trendy, or elegant has become a normal thing . People tend to show off their creativity and style especially when it comes to fashion. Looking good to feel good and to fit into a society that gives value to beauty and style.
Looking good is something I also want to achieve but, I won't trade comfort for it. For me comfort is style, simplicity is style.
Do I sound like someone trying to validate her lack of fashion sense? 😄
Well, I am fully aware of my self that I am not very much into fashion. I am not a fashionista, as what our people call these people. I grow up in the province wherein people don't give a damn about fashion because people live to survive. So I didn't really have a real life model to show me what fashion is. Life wasn't so easy back then. We only get to wear beautiful clothes on rare occasions. I remember my mother would choose clothes for us not because of its style but because of its price.
Looking back, that could be one of the reason I rather choose comfort over style.
Comfort is style, simplicity is style
In connection to this, let me share with you my fashion style.
BAGS
They say, a bag serves to represent a person's personality. It is an important accesory that can give a difference to one's overall look.
Yes I love beautiful bags, who doesn't? But, I cannot carry a trendy fashionable bag when it's heavier that what' inside. It's a big NO for me. I also hate bags that give me a hard time opening and closing it. I want a lightweight and easy to use and one bag fits all bags. In that way it saves me more time and energy.
I have bags for different purposes.
Work Bag
This bag was a gift to me by a friend. A super simple, plain bag but I love using it at work because it is big enough to fit all my things like my wallet, make-up, notebooks, cellphone and more. It is very spacious and I can easily see inside and pick the thing I need at a certain moment. I use it along with my uniform at work but I don't care if people couldn't appreciate its beauty. 😄
All-around bag
I borrowed this bag from my sister but eventually she said I can have it since I love it and she has many bags similiar to these. 😄 It's a small bag but spacious enough to fit my cellphone, wallet and cards which are the things I only need to bring when I go out with friends, go to the market, have a date with hubby, attend formal events or sometimes use it at work.
This bag is larger than the black one. I use it as an alternate to the black bag. I usually use it when I need more things to carry like powder, lipstick and powerbank.
FOOTWEAR
Good shoes take you to good places. Yes, indeed of all the things I wear and carry in my body, the footwear is the most important. It should be the most comfortable to wear and not bruise my feet in the process.
Slippers
If I have an all-around bag, this pair of slippers is my all-around footwear. It is very lightweight, soft and fashionable. I can wear this with anything except for formal dresses. It's so comfortable to wear and very durable. I would just slip my feet into it and I am ready to go.
Sneakers
Another footwear that I love wearing are sneakers. It is comfortable to wear, trendy and never go out of style. I also wear these with anything but I only use it as alternate to my slippers. The one on the right side I bought from second hand or thrift stores years ago before the pandemic. I don't usually buy a new when when they are still good to use.
Mid-heel Sandals
These sandals cannot be out of the rack. I use these at work and for special events like weddings, graduation and other special occasions. The heels are just of the right height not to strain my feet. I also choose neutral colors so I could pair it with whatever color of clothes I have.
CLOTHING
When it comes to clothing, the same principle applies. For that reason, I don't think too much of what to wear everyday when I go out. I only have the basics. My basic clothing comprises shirts, pants, few blouses and a few dresses.
When my activity for the day requires me to leave the house such as going out with friends, travelling, or going to the market, I don't think much of what to wear. I'll just grab a pants or jeans and a shirt or blouse and I am ready to.
During special events is when I dress up. I would usually buy my dress for the occasion. And if I could not find something that would fit, I would just borrow a dress from my sisters and friends paired with minimal accesories.
How we dress could mirror our personality. Sometimes we use fashion to cover our vulnerability and some dress to impress. But regardless of reasons, fashion is expression and we are free to express ourselves in any way we can.
