RESETTING THE MIND: MY GREATEST BATTLEFIELD

in #hive-19484814 hours ago

Reset is such a cool word now that I think about it but do you know why I think it’s cool? It’s simple, reset is something that gets us to think, either before or after. Sometimes we make resets on our devices by mistake and we end up thinking about it to be sure we didn’t make a wrong choice. While other times, we think about a reset before either moving forward with it or abolishing that plan, just because of how hard it feels. We are not ready to let go of some things on our devices.

That’s how it is with us too as humans. We know that we have some things we are laggy at but then, when we figure it out, we still choose to ignore them because subconsciously or consciously, we have thought about some unnecessary things that somehow seems necessary to us that we don’t wish to let go off. It then becomes the battle of the mind and most times, we end up giving up on even making that reset at all. Resetting brings about change. It brings us pain sometimes but then, it ends in joy only if we can endure that pain for a little while.

Personally, I have a lot of things I will like to change and I have been thinking a lot about all of these resets that I wish to make and if I’d be honest, I know how much I have changed my mind because I fear the change that will come with these resets. But then, I know I wish for these transformation to happen and I haven’t given up on myself, not now, not ever. I have had nights and even mornings when I wake up, sit on my bed and think about what is holding me back. I prayed about it and kept shuffling through my thoughts, thinking about why I’m thinking of what I’m thinking of.

Just recently, the heavens were on my side. Just after my exams, I felt a bit awkward that I had stopped reading all of a sudden and then I decided to give reading books a go. Lo and behold, the book that has always been on my table was all I needed all these while. A book by Joyce Meyer has been lying there all along but I kept ignoring the idea of reading it because I still had school books to read but now that I was done with my exams, I grabbed this book and I started flipping through it’s pages.

Just like Joyce, all these while, what has been holding me back from making a reset which I know I needed, was the battles that I have been waging in my mind. The book is titled “The Battlefield Of The Mind.” At that point, I knew what I have always needed to change wasn’t my habit of eating late or my habit of sleeping early, but my mindset. Someone once said that the path to success starts with the mindset and I totally agree with that. We become what we think of. A part of the book said that clearly.

I have always known that my mind was my battlefield, not necessarily the person that called me a failure. Or the person that tries to tell me that I won’t amount to anything good. Most times I forgotten who the real enemy is and I wage war with what doesn’t matter at all. Our minds are our greatest enemies because if we are not in control of the thoughts that we think of, it will definitely start controlling itself and eventually, it starts controlling us.

Knowing this, the one thing that I wish to reset in this year, is my mind and the ways I wish to achieve it is by always making sure I know what I’m thinking about at every point in my life. While reading that book, I realized that I still have a lot of negative thoughts flowing in and out of my head and it has been one of the major reasons why I battle with a lot of changes that I should have experienced but not anymore.

It was a smart move my mind was trying to play but then, thanks to reading and making inquiries, I am a step ahead now and I believe it will only get better from here. Our minds is where the war is waged. The moment we win the battles of our minds, we will see how much more things we will start winning even in the face of disappointment, difficulties and defeats. This is why, my mind is what I believe needs a reset because I know the moment I win the battle of my mind, then I will be a transformed person. Our minds need an intentional decluttering not just our physical space. In fact, it is only when we work on our minds that we will be able to see a good reason why our space needs to be clutter-free.

Thanks for reading through. ❤️

It's my pleasure. 🤗

You know, Jesus said what defiles us isn't the food that goes into the body but the words that flow out from the inside. Jesus knew how the mind is so powerful that we need to be careful what we think of or allow to come from the inner part of our minds. Our mindset determines what we become and it's important and necessary to make a reset to become someone better.
