Deciding to have less stuff in my space has definitely changed my life, there are many benefits you earn in your life; everything we have demands our attention, because we have to take care of these things, if we have fewer things we will have fewer responsibilities, we will also have more time and we will even have to make fewer decisions.

Surely it has happened to you that sometimes you have so many things that you no longer even know where to put them, where to store them and how to accommodate them. All the things that we have in our space require our attention to a certain extent and if we have a lot more attention we are going to have to devote to all this, so if we get rid of this excess we are going to recover a lot of our time, our attention and our energy and thus be able to do other more interesting things.

Why waste so much time deciding where to put or store something, because maybe only have those things that we really need in our space and thus simplify our life.

We also spend less, because by having less things, we will have less things to replace, to fix or to have to buy in the event that we have to replace them. If we get rid of all this excess, we can also go live in a smaller place and if we do this, our expenses will be further reduced because our rent or mortgage payments will go down, as well as what we pay for Electricity and even the repairs that we have to do to our space.

I read that we spend about six and a half months throughout our lives, on average looking for lost things in our space, obviously if we have more things, the chances of not finding something will be greater and thus we waste more time, the clearer our space is and the less unnecessary things we have, the faster we will find everything.

We enjoy more than what we already have because when we make the decision to lead a minimalist lifestyle, everything that ends up in our space has gone through a filter and we only end up surrounding ourselves with things that inspire us or that give us something, for example, I have had this plant with me for several years now and the truth is that I love it and every time I see it it inspires me and makes me feel very happy.

They always ask me how big my apartment is and when I answer they answer that their space or house is bigger but somehow it looks smaller than mine and that's because having less things, we need less furniture and having less furniture, we have more space, which makes our home look bigger and despite being a small area, it feels more spacious.

Having fewer things gives us more options, we can go on vacation more often, I don't know if I had financial responsibilities and what happens is that when we buy unconsciously we tend to get into debt or buy things that we can't afford in the short term and that makes us tie ourselves to a job that perhaps we don't enjoy and we waste our money paying for these things and our time as well.

When we get rid of these financial responsibilities, we can spend that time and money doing more fun things like traveling, helping someone or buying experiences.

Also having less things helps us to stop competing and comparing ourselves with other people, this happens because we are making the conscious decision to not spend our money in an illogical way and thus work on creating a life that works for us in the future.

We can come to compare ourselves with other people and that is very dangerous because we only see the things that they have on the outside but we do not know how they bought them, perhaps we can see someone who bought a new car or a house, but we do not know whether to buy it in that house on credit and now they are in debt for the next 10, 20 or 30 years and worse yet they are tied up with a job that is not their passion.
