It's no news that as humans, we all react differently to any kind of situation. It could be one that affects us physically or emotionally. There is saying that ”change equates self-improvement “, which means that as changes occur, how we adapt to it matters a lot especially to our well-being. For me, some of the things that have helped improve my well-being is;

Being Mindful

I try to incorporate the things happening around me into lifestyle especially with the increase in the price of things now. I Love that I am keeping to my budget despite the fact that the economic situation of the country. This has helped me in cutting back on excesses, getting what I need and getting rid of unnecessary things.

In fact being a minimalist has helped me now more than before because I am used to not buying on impulse, so with the current inflation, I bet that after calculating all I need for a month, there is no room for any form of buying on impulse. That alone is helping me stay sane in this rather ”not too sane” economy.

Unclogging

I think most people relate this to drains or water but it is so much more. Unclogging helps free my mind and allow me breathe well. It also helps not to ”think too much “, because there are just lots of things that are there to frustrate you even when you try to stay calm. So in cases when those things arise, I learn to calm down first before looking towards the next course of action.

There was a time the electrical power was too high resulting in it damaging my two chargers. I have a small (non browsing) phone I use for listening to the radio and it also acts as a backup in case my phone totally goes off. So both chargers were damaged and it was really frustrating as I don't have enough to get two separate chargers.

When I got to the store where these phone accessories are sold, I asked if I could get a multipurpose charger and this beauty was brought to me. I fell in love with it immediately. I tested it and it can charge both phones well. It not only helped me save cost but the design will also make it easy to carry along with me wherever I go.

I have also learned the advantage of minding my business and cutting back on some things which has really helped me have more time for self discovery.

Reducing Stress

I once told a friend of mine that a minimalist lifestyle is the best. It happened that upon visiting her one day I saw heaps of clothes that she is yet to wash in her laundry basket. The clothes were too much that even if she takes them to a laundry shop, the cost that will be given to her will be enough to pay the salary of everyone working in that shop(maybe I exaggerate a bit 😃😃), but there were just so much. The excuse she gave for not washing for a while was because she was writing her school exams.

While I understand that exam times for students are often stressful and tedious, I told her that it was because she has too many clothes. If she had few clothes, she would have had to rinse and repeat which wouldn't have led to these heaps of clothes left unwashed.

I advised her to try washing and give out to some junior students who wouldn't mind taking them. The funny part of it was that she told me that when she mentioned it to them, about six of them came to her hostel to pick most of the clothes telling her they would wash it themselves 😃😃. According to her, letting go of those clothes made her feel sane (of course you would 😃😃)

I really don't see why people would love to clutter their surroundings hereby increasing the level of stress of having to arrange them all the time. I guess to each their own.

For me, I am presently in the “I can't kill myself “ mode. I try as much as possible not to let things weigh me down much. I do the little things I can for a day and wrap it up while looking forward to the next day hopefully.

Being a minimalist has no doubt helped me improve generally. I don't have it all but I have enough to get me by.

The pleasure is mine

Hi!

For me, I am presently in the “I can't kill myself “ mode. I try as much as possible not to let things weigh me down much.

That's a very healthy attitude to have and I like how you phrased it. While it's jokey, a lot of times, these little things add up and can manifest as very real physical health problems. So not killing yourself mode is definitely the way to go.

While I enjoyed your post, I'm having trouble understanding how it answers our #KISS prompt for the week,

Share stories about moments of your minimalist lifestyle in nature, highlighting some of your regular activities that have helped to improve your overall well-being.

We welcome posts about general minimalism, not necessarily answering the #KISS prompt or the Daily Weekly Theme, but please remember to tag them accordingly. Thank you :)

Thank you so much for reading. I must have misinterpreted the prompt. I will work more on interpreting better.
